Countryfox Posted 24 January 2019 Posted 24 January 2019 Read the Merc earlier when I had my breakfast ... 2 page article by Cottee about Puel, ‘the problems’ we have and that he wouldn’t be surprised if he goes ... then on the back page Simpson is urging fans to get behind the team and mentions that some Leicester fans were joining in with the Wolves fans singing ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ ... whatever you think about our manager I think this is bang out of order and tbh I’m quite embarrassed by it.

I posted the article yesterday but had my post deleted, admittedly along with a sarcy and trolly comment from me about him being a clown, I feigned annoyance that he was telling us to be happy with where we are as a club atm The comment was deleted because you're allowed to say s*** like 'get out of our club and go back to France you French fraud' sincerely but if you say it in jest apparently its not cool But thats a couple of ex players who will have the club's best interest at heart expressing disappointment with the fans Whatever the argument about the manager the fans are really doing a poor job of supporting the club. It feels like Arsenal at the end of Wenger when they sat there waiting for something bad to happen on the pitch so they could hold up their banners

Just patchy performance levels throughout the season Yes looked at another way it's ten points from 18 against mid table opposition, a squeak through in the cup and almost unremittingly poor performances...and we're supposed to be cheered by this?

We finish eighth - no European football - the manager proclaiming himself happy with a successful season. By your yardstick - it's a good season - we're entitled to expect nothing more. Man City make an offer for Ben Chilwell. United make an offer for Maguire. Why would they stay? European football, the chance to win trophies, leaving a club with a self-confessed acceptance they cannot go much higher. So Benkovic in for Maguire, someone, possibly Elder in for Chilwell. Back to redesigning the defence. Another season in transition. Eighth again. Well done lads!! Getting really consistent. This time Maddison and Ndidi have caught the eye. They're off this season. Never mind Harvey Barnes can replace the former, Choudhury, the latter. Another season of transition as the midfield beds in. In your eyes, and those of our manager, we've had two successive very successful seasons. To mine, we've offloaded our four best players and offered no reason to stay to those left behind. None of the Puel Stability fanatics ever mention any of this. They assume our best players will stay here, happily paddling in mid table until CP has finally gathered the 4-2-3-1 under 23 squad of his dreams.

I conceded that we havent been on a great run and our form has been overall patchy. Apparently that statement wasnt negative enough for you, which i thought was a bit strong so I made a wee joke Im really sorry that we've sold Chilwell Maguire Ndidi and Madderz in your future world. I truly am. But its not my fault. Speak to future Rudkin about it!

You're totally delusional if you think something different could ever happen. We will have to sell some of our best players years after years to Champions League clubs if they want to buy them no matter what.

We don't sell our best players easily, and we don't sell two a season. Miserable git. Three quarter finals in two years when he doesn't have the squad he wants isn't bad. Nor is two top half finishes (should that happen). Anyone else outside the much bigger and richer top six would be very happy with that, especially in a period of change.

Less than two years ago we drew 1-1 with Atletico Madrid - they were better than us but we were far from humiliated...with a bit more luck we could have done it...now we’re fearful of Newport County and wetting ourselves at being seventh in the table,...God knows what some of you lot were like in the league winning season - steady on we mustn’t get ahead of ourselves...we know our place...best field a weakened side against City/Arsenal/Man Utd because we never beat them....how do you think Vichai persuaded players to come here . The promise of finishing seventh and days off on FA Cup days...

The quicker fans understand we are just another team outside the top 6 trying to challenge the better. Every season will bring new challenges. Why have we rarely seen a team outside of the top 6 teams get into Europe recently? Unless they have won a cup or finished 7th and then failed in qualification against a Romanian team etc. I am sure West Ham and especially Everton are desperate to get back into Europe but it's not as easy as everyone thinks. You can have more money than everyone else but if you are not good/unlucky in investing it, you get very little as a result. Money does not necessarily equal success, there are other factors.

Sadly, I have to agree but it doesn't mean it's not possible in the future. This is why we are looking for long term improvements off the pitch, in the hope that we can build a young and talented squad and progress each year to get some form of tangible success. I mean look at Spurs, for all their phenomenal work under Poch, they still haven't won anything. They are cemented as one of the top 5 sides now but still will largely be forgotten about if they don't start picking up some trophies. It's brutal at the top in a competitive league and country like England.

A club needs ambition though so why not. We (us fans) just need to understand that it takes years and years to build. The training ground is a step in the right direction.
Babylon Posted 25 January 2019 Posted 25 January 2019 If someone else says we'll lose our players if we don't win cups or finish 7th I'm going to scream... do you seriously think Ben Chilwell would turn down Man City, the chance to win multiple trophies each season and play in the champions league year in year out because we finished 7th and might play Aberdeen in the Europa league? You're deluded.

You're deluded. The only players we might prevent wanting to leave are squad players who would get more of a chance if we are in another competition. Europe would be an added bonus for the likes of Chilwell, Maguire and Maddison but realistically the only teams who they'd go to would be in the Champions League which is where the real quiz is, so it's a load of toss.
filbertway Posted 25 January 2019 Posted 25 January 2019 Plenty of people on here must be millionaires - it seems that all you have to do is say that have the ambition to do something and it's going to happen. Forget realism, just say you want to do something and it should probably happen.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 25 January 2019 Posted 25 January 2019 If you forget what happened in 15-16 and don’t use it as a yard stick, would you be happy? Ask yourself that, have a think, get some perspective and back the lads.

He has failed at the top 2, while the third with this squad, is almost impossible, given most of the division’s teams mediocrity. Hence Puel out (for 12 months now I am proud to say) .
leicesterseddon Posted 26 January 2019 Posted 26 January 2019 It’s a decent (if familiar) defence of Puel. Thing is I agree with most of the arguments, especially about lowering the age of the team, etc. and taking a risk on younger players rather than going for the safe option of expensive 28 year-olds. The thing is though, it’s hard to buy into this view of Puel when you check your phone and see that he’s playing Ndidi and Mendy again, or three DCMs at home to Southampton, or playing Ricardo on the left wing, etc. etc.
Wymsey Posted 26 January 2019 Posted 26 January 2019 Neil Lennon is rumoured to be set to leave Hibernian, following some argument with some other club officials. Brendan Rodgers to be next LCFC manager and Lennon to be his assistant?..
Sionnach gorm Posted 26 January 2019 Posted 26 January 2019 In a forum where most would take a mediocre championship manager like Pearson back “in a minute!” This defence is wasted.

It's funny how the same people saying accomplishments of Puel in Ligue 1 (and Champions League) don't really count are the same who totally ignore the fact that Pearson is terrible in the Belgian second-tier.
