Heck, Mendy played CB for a few minutes on Saturday!

...and didn't Ndidi actually start out as a CB in his career?

Very good news. That will allow us to be a bit more cautious in the transfer market, and not be at ransom of other clubs that know we are desperate for cover at the position.

I’m sure like others on here I’d just like to see him play a few more times even if those games are cup or lower profile league games. Soyuncu didn’t play many games last season and didn’t look anything like the player he has become. Whether Benkovic can get to the same level we don’t know but if he can get some games with a view to playing more often with our extended schedule next season then that would be a good result for the club.

In general our transfer strategy has become buying young players with potential and developing them and Benkovic in his weekend cameo already showed he has potential.

Could never understand why he doesn’t appear to be in Brendans thoughts when it comes to centre backs ..  and why we are looking to buy in January.    Now all is clear ...  when standing on grass Benko turns into Bambi ...   and can’t get back up.

Surprised to see him on the bench last night.

Good news, means he isn't injured badly at all. Would like to see him come in as the 3rd centreback to close out a game as Brendan was wont to do with Morgan.

one injury that was never allowed to fully heel when at Celtic doesn't make him a croc, plenty of players get minor knocks and injuries when returning from lengthy injuries as the body gets used to it again

Well said !!

It's tough on players when they don't a full training camp, they seem to keep picking up little niggles. The upside of Benko is his age, once he gets regular playing time he will keep getting stronger.
