jamesmilner Posted 15 May 2020 Posted 15 May 2020 There's a tent where all tests will take place that has been erected at the training ground . Players back first obviously . All other staff still not back to protect the players . Monday 1st team plus some U23's will resume training at Belvoir Drive . Well its a start , please do not think this means football will return , the FA still are very wary of this still .
Guest Cujek Posted 15 May 2020 Posted 15 May 2020 How have they got a tent for testing when tests are in such short supply? Oh yeah money...

Spudulike Posted 15 May 2020 Posted 15 May 2020 The test results are not instant though, are they? So not just a case of a quick test in a tent to see if a player is Covid positive and, if OK, go straight out to train.

Those that do want to train have strict rules to adhere to .

But if a player wants to train they could be sending him out whilst having the virus (even if not symptomatic) as the test result won't be instantly available. They may have strict rules on distancing etc but still a risk. The anti-body tests are instant but there's no scientific confirmation of immunity.

Hales Posted 15 May 2020 Posted 15 May 2020 I think it takes a day to 2 for results so I presume they're testing today for resumption of training next week?

As far as I understood they are testing 2-3 times a week and training in the same small groups but individually on separate pitches. So I guess when the results come in clear they re-test again? To be honest they are in a safer environment and lower risk than me and most others at the moment! I'm working 3 or 4 nights a week in childrens healthcare and going to the supermarket to get a food shop as I cannot get an online delivery! I also dont have a team of management, medical staff and physios watching out for me 😊 I know football isnt really back but I'm sadly excited they are back training 😁

I do not know the 'ins and outs of return , ' i just know they are in Monday 100% .
jamesmilner Posted 15 May 2020 Author Posted 15 May 2020 I don't know if they've already been sent out tests etc, i didn't hear that part of the conversation, i could guess but i do not like to . They'll be training in groups 5's with a few u23's with first team . The u23's not involved will be trained separately (i'm guessing loanees going back ? ). When i hear more i will let you all know .

I believe players will be tested in advance of them commencing training, so there is some evidence they are ‘clear’, then regular testing thereafter. They will also have to complete a questionnaire and temperature checks before each session. It is a low risk environment. They are outside and in small groups, and will be keeping a distance. Also don’t forget that less than 1 in 400 people are infected.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 15 May 2020 Posted 15 May 2020 I thought the whole idea was they were quarantined off, not that they were able to go home to their family every night and potentially still spread it round. Seems a stupid idea to me, but hey, money talks and it's obviously more important.
st albans fox Posted 15 May 2020 Posted 15 May 2020 I would have hoped that premier league clubs could invest in the machinery that provides an almost immediate result. no point in finding out 2 days later that someone was positive for the past two days training and could have infected his group of five other players ..... it may be that the intention is to keep the first team players in 3+ 2 with U23’s to cut down on the number of players who could have to isolate if a member of their 5 tests positive ....
