Having a baby. Over the moon. That is all.

With what's happening recently and that turn of phrase, I hope you named it Artemis...

Didn't realise that you and the other members of the Artemis crew were given so much freedom up there!

But seriously, congrats.

Nuggets and fish and chips are not the main cause of childhood obesity. Kids are picky eaters, family work in schools and see plenty of half eaten lunches when different things are put in front of kids.

Whilst cheap, quick and easily cooked food continues to be the 'unhealthy' food, things will not improve. Education and making it easier to access, quick/healthy options are the steps we should be taking

Sat at home on their phones and computers all evening doesn't help either. We used to play out until the sun went down when we were younger.

people who lived through the 80/90's mock people for staring at a phone all day but if we had that technology back then we'd all be doing the same thing.

Someone took your screen away kiddie?

How did he manage that?

I was quoted £400 to have one front tooth removed and replaced with an implant and that was on the NHS.

Not an ideal start to the day, my daughter didn't get her first choice school this morning, on paper it shouldnt be an issue as both schools are rated 'good' and within a reasonable distance but the first choice was just a lot easier due to my parents house basically backs on to the others schools play ground! So they could help more with drop off and pick ups.

Anyone ever appealed and been successful, it doesn't sound like many appeals are successful but will give it a shot I think.

I often think this is the fault of parenting generations though. Nobody wants their kids going out alone any more. Play dates are organised by parents. Kids don't learn the same independence. I'm not sure it's the kids responsible for this.

I'm not a parent but I've never known my mates let their kids out, without knowing where they are now. We used to disappear off in the morning and not be back for hours. But, the fields we played in are housing estates now, the quiet roads we were safe to ride our bike on, are now too busy.

Never appealed but context is key as to the catchment area, demand from other parents within the catchment. Might have been that more kids are eligible for that school before you were.

There was a story a couple of years ago where kids had to go five miles to a school because they weren't in the catchment of the school their house basically backed on to. The boundary line had been changed and the house was taken out of it.

Another where a parent in LFE sent his first child to New Lubbesthorpe as the development was in its infancy. He wasn't in the catchment but they had space. By the time his second child was about to go to primary the development was bigger and there were more kids, so his second child had to go to an LFE primary instead.

So many nuances but it really all comes down to whether you're in catchment and the demand from other parents (as well as lots of other factors).
