This assumes you can believe anything at all published by the CCP.  Which is doubtful.

Several independent agencies and parties are able to corroborate their record on scientific matters and energy policy implementation, for instance.

Of course, it is possible they're engaging in a massively successful deception operation regarding their modernisation and progress, but if they are that just means they're heading into the same pit as the West.

Ultimately China are leading the world in all sorts of areas and their technological advancements absolutely show that government led progress is far more efficient than leaving it to the market. And that's not a call for communism, just an observation that market dogma has largely failed to deliver. Their progress on clean energy and EV tech in particular is incredible.

They are indeed, and although there has been huge amounts of state money thrown around, there has also been extremely cutthroat competition between the companies fighting for that cash.  Not exactly communism in action, but it has been very effective.

Always held back from ordering items from China but gave in a year or so ago.

I have to say, no complaints so far when using AliExpress.

Their tracking information is really detailed and items arrive quite quickly, considering their origin

That said: my current order has been at the sorting centre over there for nearly 24 hours. Previous items have spent no more than 5 hours before going off to the airport.

Imo it's why we're lagging behind with EV uptake - our cars could be better, batteries could be much better and we don't have the charging infrastructure because it's all been left to the market. Government should be deciding what the country needs then whether directly being involved - perhaps funding R&D firstly - or by being very clear it's where the money is given government spending underpins everything else. Because we have quite a noisy element of British politics that don't want to move beyond oil and gas, the government can't offer the business certainty that's needed. I think labour really should be much bolder and louder in this area. They're being way too meek imo.

The nations that won't move beyond oil and gas for energy generation will either wither under market pressure, or be directly responsible for societal collapse.

Either way, their legacy will be mud if they don't adapt.

The obvious fake news on Twitter can be spotted by half wits, you know the posts like..

'This is the tax burden in the UK compared to Dubai

Read on.

Start packing your bags now'

But this type of fake news in the post-Trump world is believable, even though the bloke gets literally everything about the UK wrong. Can see how it whips up a riot. Christopher Caldwell: How Immigration Is Erasing Whites, Christians, and the Middle Class

And this kind of lie actually represents a threat if enough people believe it in order for policy to be based upon it.

"Sticks and stones..." is a dangerous fallacy. Words have power.

Heh, I think it's a bit much to suggest an old rhyme we say to kids to try and help them deal with people who are nasty to them is a "dangerous fallacy."

Ha, yes, perhaps I should have been more precise in my own use of words there. Shows the effect they have :D

Of course, it's fine to teach kids that some nasty comments aren't actually harmful to them, but extending that to ignoring the effect words can have on people in a lot of other circumstances - as sometimes people do - is when the trouble tends to start.

How can the EFL give us a points deduction mid season?

Surely a points deduction would be given before the season starts?

Because they like to crush our hopes and dreams.

Seems the FA want to punish us for our past glory days.

Can you imagine the uproar if one of the big clubs were 5 points ahead in the Premier League and then deducted 6 points and lost the title. Would never happen because of the damage to the product and the support base protests. If not acceptable at that level should not be applied elsewhere in the pyramid

What??!??? Forest and Everton got a mid season points deduction in the prem for a start. We smashed the rules to bits during a period of unbelievably incompetent management.

Forest and Everton were not challenging for the title. The point you are missing is that deduction should be applied before a season starts rather than during

It's just turned September, everyone is challenging for the title!! And not everything fits into a neat box to be decided between the football seasons. If one of our promotion rivals was found guilty in November, got promoted at our expense and then had their points deduction upon entering the premier league, can you imagine the meltdown the happy clappers would have? It is totally unrealistic.

Without getting into the technicalities and before some victim replies with 'but what about Man City'   1) we smashed the rules to shreds, that was our fault. 2) Despite this Nick De Marco conducted a heroic piece of Houdini-ism to dodge our deserved points deduction last season 3) we still got relegated!!

No city fan can complain if/when we take our medicine, whenever in the calendar that is.

Almost sounds like you are looking forward to it. You just won't acknowledge that if a Liverpool or Chelsea etc were found guilty of some serious breach (putting aside PSR) mid season that the stuff hitting the fan would be self defeating to the competition and wouldn't happen

I'm not a conspiracy theorist Donald trump-voting maniac with a victim complex, I don't acknowledge a conspiracy theory that has no basis in reality or precedent outside of a Facebook feed.

In the meantime Chelsea sell Hotels and teams to themselves. No rules broken but what a stink. The people making the rules have already been found wanting hence no punishment applied so far.

THAT I agree with, without knowing the technicalities of all the rules. It seems like everything in life, you can find a loophole if you are clever and wealthy enough. Which of course we did last season.

The problem for me is that the whole PSR thingy looks seriously flawed and not fit for purpose. That supporters are more concerned with financial gobbledegook and the increasing points deductions or threat of for clubs shows something fundamental is wrong.
