What’s YouKay roadmen?

As I fall deeper into my 30s I can’t keep up with the language these days.

I had to look up aura farming the other day.

It’s a reference to a young person normally of 2nd or 3rd generation migrant background who lives in the UK. The YouKay is a reference to how they would say ‘UK’

My 'mate' just asked what aura farming is? I feel like you would give a better explanation than me.....

(Darkly) interesting infographic find.

Just goes to show that, right now at least, things are no worse (in terms of warfare) than they have been at other points in the last few decades.

Been going to Speedway at Poole this summer. It's great.

Is the Leicester Lions speedway stadium/team still going?

Won a trophy tonight

In the top division. Poole in the second division which surprised me as they were always up there as the best team in the country when I was growing up. Turns out that they couldn't afford to pay the best riders the money they wanted so voluntarily dropped a division.

18 hours in Kingston upon Thames yesterday for work. A real mix in its population those not able to pay Richmond/Twickenham prices and YouKay, roadmen.

This is much of London now I think. I live in a pretty mid-tier area and the soundtrack to most of my summer days WFH is American and English yummy mummies calling their kids out to the people carrier so they can get to tennis practice on time, mixed with click clacking lime bikes, booming sound systems, and the ramblings of the odd homeless druggie who's strayed from the nearest high road.

Did Ricky Martin not know champagne literally comes from France or did the lyric predate the E.U. ruling? Does that law’s jurisdiction extend to Puerto Rico and into the past as well? could he not have come up with a more appropriate lyric?!

Did Nelly Furtado not know that birds are renowned for their ability to return year after year to the same place having flown away along distance and back again.

Dunce!

Has the General News thread dropped down so much because people's posts need to be approved first, rather than nobody actually posting in it?

If 100 random people who went to Oasis could only choose between remembering the experience of the gig but not telling anyone they went, or telling people how amazing it was but nothing remembering anything about it, I wonder which choice would be more popular.

I've got surprising praise for an insurance company. Last Tuesday my parents had a car accident, which, as it was a trailered HGV v small VW, they came of worse. Fortunately, both are absolutely fine. The car, not so.

On Wednesday I did the online claim and uploaded pictures of what is left of the car.  The assessment, unsurprisingly said it was probably not economical to repair.

Monday afternoon I received confirmation and a settlement offer. Which was over our expectations. And above the autotrader valuation.

I called to accept yesterday and they have the money today.

I'm not sure how efficient insurance companies normally are in these circumstances but usually we complain about their delayed processes. But, fair play Tesco :appl:

I am but it's my parents policy. Mother will have a club card and I'm going to assume I added it when I set up the policy.

Working in car finance I have to deal with written off car claims all the while. In the last 18 months I’m seeing more and more claims paid in the kind of timescale you experienced.
It is down to the fact that the insurers are increasingly using AI to do the work.
Efficiency is fantastic but the jobs will go. As they will in many industries.
