He definitely was much better last night. Played more positively  and only dived in a couple of times. It’s consistency that’s his problem though. He’ll have a good game then have 2 or 3 shockers. If he could maintain a level then he’d justify his place, we just haven’t seen that consistency yet.

Still poor last night for me and an obvious weak link

Completely agree.

Any winger with any ounce of pace, must lick their lips with excitement of playing against him.

His lunging in and taking himself out of the game weren’t punished in this game, unlike others and that’s why he’s been given a bit more credit IMO.

I really don't get the hate for him.  He's largely fine defensively.  Doesn't get forward as much as some other full backs and that seems to trigger some on here.  I thought he was one of our better players against Derby last night.

There are at least 6 positions in the team that I would want to upgrade before I get to Luke.

He didn't have a poor game at all apart from over committing a few times in challenges I thought he played pretty well.

He was aggressive in the press and challenged and harassed Derby players too.

Better with his passing and positioning although he does still need to improve his consistency against faster wingers.

Deffo not the worst player on the pitch that was Ayew or Abdul.

I’m probably the least qualified of all posters on here. Recently I have been surprised by the comments about Thomas. He’s one of the few that try, and can cross, so last night I watched him.
keen - yes

cross a ball - he can

defend - I’m sorry chap, no. Beaten often. Easy target. Surprised his desperate lunges don’t get him into the book more often.

I think I’m blinded by his enthusiasm in a team blighted by the lack of it.

Thought he was fine yesterday.

Yes he did over-commit and dive in too early a couple of occasions, but there were some good moments too. A couple of excellent defensive clearances from dangerous crosses they had, would underlap/overlap Stephy albeit regularly ignored. Not sure he put a foot wrong whilst on the ball and has an assist to his name to end the day.

He's had a poor season overall but he won't get much criticism from me for last night.

No sane manager would ever have the lad in a squad, let alone a team..

He just grimly tries to survive each game and avoid humiliation. You can see it in his body language. Exactly what any fit, competent Sunday league parks 24 year old would do. Just hang in there.
