Tbf, bear in mind the power he was up against. 5ft 7 and 9 stone of pure, distilled far eastern power

And yet it was only Sakamoto

Not even Mr Miyagi.

Mystical Far Eastern non contact powers that still managed to put him on the floor.

Thought I'd last seen that in 1970's Bruce Lee movies.

Just seen the 2nd goal, shocking from Thomas. So many  people have commented on his lack of physique, it's something he could have worked on. He seems to have a similar body shape to what he had when he first broke through! The modern game demands strength, it's something he and the club should have sorted. Ridiculous, must not be in the team.

And what's he doing for their first goal as well - on the line but not on the corner of the goal. If he had been positioned properly, that might have been prevented.

Interesting to read the start of this thread. Lots of comments on the strength of his crossing but it doesn’t seem like he gets into those positions much anymore. Still has that in his locker like we saw at Derby away but we don’t usually tend to use it as an option.

Worse player i have seen since supporting the Club since 1998

Same for me but I go back further. 1988. He’s the worst.

Left back has to be top priority now.

Thomas cannot be our first choice.

How softly he fell when he bumped in the wire-like frame of Sakamoto was a disgrace. Either he has no physical attributes whatsoever, or played for the foul which was never going to come.

Dragging Bruno Berner out of retirement now would be a better option than playing that utter clown, or Hamza "leg-breaker, drink-driver" Choudhury. Get them both gone FFS.

When you think he was starting in the FA cup final 😁 We played a back 3 then with Evans, Fofana and Soyucu and had Castagne as the RWB and Thomas LWB. He was surrounded by class and full of youthful energy - it’s like he’s been through so much crap at the club like us, he’s just fell away as the club has. Too many poor managers who can’t defend doesn’t help either. The one decent manager we’ve had over the last few years sent him out on loan 😂

Ricky and Nelson were at fault for the first, Ricky not closing down the cross and Nelson being bullied by Simms.

Thomas was diabolical for the 2nd but Page didn't do well either, he could have headed the looping ball clear.

The whole team is defensively weak, our players are soft as shit, we have zero leaders, nobody looks like their playing for the shirt or putting a shift in.

I would sell everyone in this team, they're mentally weak not good enough.

It's impossible to defend anybody associated with the club this season.

We have been a shambolic disgrace and need gutting from top to bottom.

We're going to waste this generation of youth talents because we have zero leadership around them.

Fcuking abysmal club.

Just to add further proof to the case for me knowing nothing about football, I thought our full backs would be amongst our strongest positions this season!

Time after time he plays the opposition onside when the other three have stepped up. That seems to cost us most games. He started the season ok-ish but week on week gets worse….

Wow, that is a very brave admission 😬. Remarkable take to think VK and Luke Thomas are anything other than two of the weakest players in a very average team. We are league 1 to 2 at left back.

This is one of the things Chilwell did during his time here. He went away in the summer bulked up and came back as an athletic modern day wingback back who had pace, strength and energy.

Thomas should have done similiar 5 years ago. Instead he’s still got the physique of a 10 year old schoolboy.

Yay, someone else other than me sees it!

Spot on. Did it in the first half and got away with it. Endless times under Maresca we were punished down that side.

You can look at Nelson and Thomas (re the first goal) as well. But sometimes you have to look at how the defence comes to be in that position. By being so far out of position and making no effort to get out to his man and put pressure on him, the opposition are given the freedom of the stadium, hell the city, to stroll into the area or pick a cross out under no pressure, with all the time in the world and then the defence being as frail as it is, fails to deal with it thereafter.

Thomas deserve all the stick he gets. Diabolical player. But one of the criticisms he gets is how he is beaten easily and allows balls into the box. But Ricardo gets none for being out of position and allowing the same result?

The full backs needs replacing. Nelson and Okoli have potential to still be good but I am unsure whether that’s together. Nelson looked better with Vestergaardto be fair. But ideally we bring in a Morgan or Huth type defender with that will go defend and that mentality that they brought.

Watched Edinburgh City play Spartans the other week in the 4th tier of Scotland and it actually got brought up.. "would Luke Thomas stand out here" and I'm really not convinced he would. That's how ridiculous it is. I don't think he would look bad at that level, but I don't think he would be eye-catching either. It sounds ridiculous to explain this to anybody who hasn't watched him but I really think it might be true.

That contract. I thought it was daft at the time but good gracious me. The problem is as well is that we've proven time and time again under this regime that we won't move these players on. I fully expect he'll be featuring for us in some form in 18 months time. It's this tolerance of this sort of thing that has been the fundamental issue that has caused our decline. It's why average Championship sides are now passing us too. Where does it stop? I'm deadly serious - Peterborough United, Northampton Town, do not give Luke Thomas a four year contract. This is the level of player we're investing in?

There's nothing honourable about continuing to pick somebody so out of their depth either. It just breeds resentment. He can't be enjoying this. The fans aren't enjoying it.

When he had those poor loan spells at Sheffield United and Middlesbrough that should have been the end for him here. Moved on to a lower league club.

But of course not. This is Aiyawatt's Leicester. That would require a bit of work. A bit of not winging it. Why go out of your way when you can cut a corner and hope for the best.

He's not quite cost us a place in a league against all the odds (yet) so he remains behind Danny Ward for me but bloody hell he's getting there.

I'm not a scout but I'm sure I could find a dozen better LBs in Leagues 1 & 2. I saw Eastleigh in a televised game and their LB was miles better.

The only reason I can think of for giving him a 4 years contract would be to maintain his Transfer value. But since nobody would pay more than 100k for him then that's no justification

Ricky P is even worse because he's club captain and our leader but doesn't demonstrate it on the pitch with his performance levels.

There's no room for sentiment in sport, he should have been replaced a while ago.
