So many weird people about

Sadly typical of the comments on the BBC comments page .

I suspect some don’t like the fact Stokes isn’t a posh middle class English captain ?

Steady start so far .

Good work .

Steady....still 254 to get which would be a tough chase on it's own

But you are and can score at a decent rate. Still on your openers! With Brook, Root, Stokes and Pope still to come it'll take a momentous effort to stop you!

Can't see where we get 1 or 2 wickets let alone 10 in 2 sessions!

As a commenter on the Beeb coverage has just mentioned, what other England team in the past would have even considered this target in this time limit to be chaseable and gone for it?

I guess the 378 in 2019 (?) plays a big part in how achievable targets are for England. It's changed the attitude and approach literally on its head.

It's definitely made test cricket more entertaining and watchable. Albeit a whole load riskier.

2022, if I remember right.

The quality of cricket comms/analysis is so much better than football but I've noticed this recent trend where they are ridiculously critical of the fielding. Jaiswal probably should have taken it but it was still a difficult chance, especially with the wind. Yet DK acting like he dropped a dolly.

It's the 1 part of the game that is objectively much better than it was 10/20 years ago.

It’s one you’d expect any elite fielder to catch though in all fairness as you’ve said.

Rain coming down. Would expect England to accelerate a little bit now. Still plenty of time left in the day of course.

The standard is generally so good these days (thanks in part to T20 I think). It is more noticeable when a mildly tricky catch is dropped. India have dropped a few in this match.

Agree the analysis is so much better, but only on Sky tbh - Vaughan is horrendous, ridiculous knee jerks takes to try and grab headlines...said some stupid stuff about players - called Pope insecure and stuff like that. Can't stand him and Agnew is dull as dishwater, shame as TMS used to be so good. I can't listen to it now. Atherton, Mel Jones, Hussain, Broad and DK are all superb.

Only other gripe would be to turn Shastri's microphone down - him shouting at the toss was so loud!

Can see why Vaughan was a good captain but I agree with you. He's so up himself. Otherwise I think TMS is still decent. I actually went to a show that Aggers and Tuffers did where they just chatted cricket. Agnew actually a lot more down to earth and funny than I realised.

Agree completely but they've generally been pretty fair to fielders when the chance is tricky. Just something I've picked up on this summer where they are over the top.

Uh oh. Still well in control but a bit more interesting now. We were properly starting to put them under the pump before the rain hit.

Coasting to victory now with one session left, unless rain still plays a part.

Duckett playing with a lot of freedom now. Picked up the pace.
