One thing this all is showing is that Atkinson and at least one of Wood or Archer is needed to supplement this attack. 

 

I would add finding a quality spinner, but that seems like a unicorn hunt right now.

Lots of emotion in the celebration too by the looks of it. 

 

The scorecard is random once again. The big scorers not getting enough support. Top order not solid enough for the first 4 or 5 batters on a consistent level.

It has been a 40 year hunt with only Swann being anywhere near world class.

Plenty of quality spinners on the county circuit depends on the flavour.

 

Ahmed x 2, Carson, Dawson, Leach, Crane, 

All better spinners than Bash and most of those can hold a bat too.

Not sure why a vibe that has (by and large) made a team from a total wreck to a winning one excepting very rare circumstances against the very best teams away from home deserves such ire.

There's been a lot of spinners who have shown promise in the counties but then not repeated that at Test level. 

 

One of those ongoing conundrums, Swann aside.

Looks like a very weak Indian pace attack. Unless the pitch breaks up and starts spinning, I cant see them taking 20 wickets.

Lovely to be there. 
 

India be the happier of the two sides after day 1 I think. Think they need to convert this into a 450 at least though. Quite surprised we took 5 wickets in all fairness as I don’t feel like we ever put India under any kind of sustained pressure. Got a bit unlucky with the two reviews being umpires calls in the first session but yeah, India slightly ahead after today.

BBC getting a sly dig in at Smith for absolutely no reason at all 😂😂

Whose record did Gill beat?
England's greatest tormentor in the CricViz era has been Steve Smith but even the great Australia does not come close to a century as controlled as Gill's here.
His lowest false shot percentage in any of his eight Test centuries in England was 9% - a difference of far more than a strip of sandpaper or two.

Jadeja deserved a ton. Short ball did him in the end. I don't expect the tail to hang around much longer.
