Superb win. Plenty of people questioning the call to chase myself included, a record chase now achieved. Even more astonishing when really India were always ahead in the game, even at the start of play today. A few dropped catches and two dismal collapses from India seemingly costs them the game.

The biggest compliment you can give this England side is that they’ve made what should seem incredible now seem normal.

 

Just knock off the 10th highest chase in Test history and come back from the opposition being 350 odd for 3, nothing special.

Some win that. If you look at them innings scores, it's incredible that a win has been secured. 

As been said, its just the norm now. 

As soon as doesn't work there will be criticism and I think you can argue India let it slip with their collapses from matching winning positions. 

Not overly bowler friendly conditions but they've made that chase look comfortable and that's crazy.

Another thing, Smith is rapidly becoming a most reliable option both in front of and behind the stumps. 

 

The only thing missing now is a top of the line spinner, just to add another string to the bow beyond "doesn't matter how many you score, we'll chase it down".

The bowling still needs a lot of work but the batting is probably one of the top 10 greatest batting line ups in test history.

I've been thinking about England lineups on that score, and the only one from even vaguely recent past is the 2010-11 team that was world no. 1 for a while. But I think this team likely surpasses that one in batting.

Only difference is that team wouldn’t be in a position where we’d need 300+ in the first place.
