Will a fire-stick/IPTV work on my 2009 Samsung tv? Is has a HDMI port? Or is it too old to handle such technology :D Very tired of trying to find streams via my laptop!

I am using just such a device on a 2009 Samsung TV, so you'll be very unlucky if it doesn't

Has anybody had any dealings with TCL TV's? Looking at getting a tv to put in the summerhouse down the garden so dont want to spend a great deal moneywise. I have fitted an aerial so it will be mainly normal TV channels we watch and our home wi-fi doesnt reach so we will have to tether from a phone for any other stuff. They do seem to have good reviews and certainly/hopefully good enough for what it will be used for.

The only reason I went LG over TCL was the depth of the TV to hang on the wall.  If you don't carer about that I would say perfect for the job.

We have a summerhouse at the end of our long garden. My brother in law said if it was his, he would run electricity to it and have all sorts in there.

Why? You are basically recreating your living room.

We are all different of course but I find it great to get away from all that when I'm in ours.

I get what your saying but we are hoping that putting a TV in there means that once the Euro's start we will lose our daughters and their boyfriends down there so at least the house will be 'normal' if only for a few weeks

20% off most LG tellies at Richer Sounds but ends tonight. Come a bit soon for me, I think, but may yet give in.

I was going to go for the Amazon Omni but 1) I don't want to give them any more money and 2) there's only a year's warranty on them which seems a bit tight. Having had a Samsung replaced 4 years into a 5 year warranty and my father in law's needing a potentially not economic repair not that many years into its life I don't want to take a chance on that

I succumbed and bought a 50" LG something or other that was 700 quid at quite a few places, but had 150 off at a couple of shops and still managed to get the 20% LG TV discount.

Not seen any reviews of this particular model (it's this year's) so may be no great shakes in the grand scheme of things but at that price I'm delighted

Did eventually get it out of the box and managed to get the stand on without breaking it.

Seems fairly enormous compared to what I'm used to (I've gone from a 40 to 50 inch display) but overall I'm quite impressed

Have you finished creating all your accounts and inputting your new and existing passwords, just so you can watch the bloody thing?

It's not my first LG TV so it was a lot less painful than it might have been, and it's connected by ethernet which cuts down slightly on faff.

Christ knows how you'd cope if you were elderly or tech averse

My brother in law went through a phase a couple of years ago, of having 3 or 4 new TV's in a short space if time, as either replacements or for bedrooms.

I dreaded the inevitable phone call to help set them up.

He had differing makes so new accounts needed to be created to access some features. Also, existing accounts for things such as Netflix, YouTube and so on needed the passwords inputting.

Trouble was he had around 10 different passwords for various thing and would get them mixed up.

Took us hours sometimes - and I'm not exaggerating.

It does take the shine off getting a new thing a bit, doesn't it? I think this was part of why I didn't rush to unbox mine.

The quick/start assembly guide was hilariously bad as well. All done now though

I’ve had the LG C1 65 inch for 2 years. Best TV I’ve ever owned. Especially for gaming, the PS5 can kick out 120 frames per second which makes all the difference for shooters. But also watching sport is great on it when broadcasts are in UHD.

Never buying anything again that isn’t OLED.

So worth the money. I got the C1 as the C2 was announced. Price drop, plus 20% back from Very. At the time it was the lowest price it had ever been at. Stunning screen.

I certainly would never buy another LG. I bought an LG that cost me 3.5k years ago, It was Top of the range at the time. It lasted 2.5 years and they wanted 1K to repair it.

I scrapped it instead and bought a Blaupunkt TV which is still going. We use it in the Bedroom now.

Bought another LG in 2020 thinking I was just unlucky.  It's in for repair now as I write.  The Screen turned Blue.  The Engineer said it's a common fault with LGs.

Have anyone bought a refurbished TV before?  My three years old decided my TV would make a good racetrack and have damaged it.   Was thinking I would be better off buying a refurbished TV for few years until my boys get more older.

You'd be best off buying second hand. Try asking round your mates/family if they have any older TVs still knocking about.

Why is that?
