One of the more surreal memories for me in the 15/16 season was the reaction at Sunderland away.

It felt like for the few seasons before then there'd been some sort of back and forth banter / abuse between us and the Sunderland fans. We saw them as just another shit yoyo club like us, maybe with some delusions of grandeur. They saw us as some sort of scruffy upstarts threatening their place in the league I think.

We beat them away at their gaff, Vards scored, 2-0 I think maybe. They were having an awful season, nothing to really be happy about.

Yet it felt like pretty much the whole city clapped us out on the way back. Applause from them all over the place, there were blokes all down the streets and stood in front of pubs clapping the fans busses as we went home.

Honestly one of the most bizarre moments I can remember following Leicester.

OP kinda just made me think of that.

106 points was a 2nd tier record I think (we got 103 in 2014?).

Theres been some big moments down on Freeman's Wharf in its short lifetime. Didn't it stage a Conference play-off final one year which, I think, was won by Hereford (might have dreamt that)?

Yea,  Met some mates for afew drinks round town and couldn't work out why the Police stopped us and asked us where we were from .😁.

Can't remember who they played though :dunno:

I remember taking my son to his first ever match. A 2-1 home defeat against Reading when Sousa was manager. Luckily, I managed to convince him that Leicester was the way forward afterwards. If that wasn't possible though, I would've held Reading responsible and you wouldn't have had me saying that I wish your club all the best for the future 👍

I remember once I was on a stag do. As we moved from one pub to another I rushed so I could keep an eye on the football scores. When a few of the lads came in I excitedly told them that we’d got a late winner as they were all City fans, so was surprised to see their faces drop and hear moans and groans. Turned out they’d had us as an away draw on a multiple team acca, ours was the last score to come in and it cost them about £3/4000. lol

Halifax.

Of course it's great for the fans of those clubs to see their teams at Wembley now but it would've been great for Leicester as a place if we still hosted that game.

Cards on table, I am a Reading fan.

today is the 15th anniversary of us getting promoted to the Premier League for the first time. 2000 of us were lucky enough to be at Leicester to witness that historic moment.

a few of us having been chatting about it and an abiding memory we share is just how brilliant the Leicester fans were to us that day. I’m not sure we ever came back and said thanks, so here I am.

you applauded the team at the end of the game, you applauded them when the result that confirmed promotion (the score at Leeds) was announced and you were generally a class bunch.

many of us remember in particular that when we left the ground there was a group of half a dozen lads, teenagers, stood outside the away end and they applauded us as we floated out. Brilliant. No idea who they were, they would be in their 30’s now and I hope they have been around to enjoy your glory years.

So,thankyou Leicester for helping make the memories of that day so special for us Royals. Plenty of us have enjoyed watching you do so well in recent years because you showed that day what a decent club you are.

we look forward to playing you again !

I might have a couple of spare programmes from that game if you're interested? I'd just need to dig them out

If you want one posting out just drop me a message :)

Former City academy player Rob Purdie captained Hereford that day iirc.
