Heart says we’ll win the FA Cup. Head says we’ll come up short in both.

Achieving both just feels like it’s not meant to be.

If (and it’s a huge IF) we somehow managed to do both..it would be the most incredible season we’ve had, not by actual achievement but by doing it when things get tough.

The league will never be beaten but I feel that we were by a mile the best team that season. The bigger freak was getting the players in the club rather than the actual suprise when you realised how good they were.

Thos team isn’t as good as the 15/16 team and the league is a lot stronger now as a while. So despite agreeing that season will never be beaten, IF we did achieve both then it would arguably be a better achievement relative to the situation.

If we do, does Brendan get any credit ? Genuine question or is just the players for you ?

If we manage to do even top 4 only then Brendan will get credit from me for holding his nerves.

Howrver I still think the players are the main reason. We have a fantastic squad and especially a few of them(Youri in particular) are absolutely wonderful players and the key.

If we manage to achieve anything then Youri is as key to it as Kante was to 15/16 imo.

It’s weird, I rate our squad but the opinion between us differs in the quality to date. I rate so many of them to become key players at UCL but genuinely believe they currently have some short comings. Which is absolutely fine given so many of them are young.

If we make top 4 and/or win the cup, it will be an interesting learning curve for these players.

I hope we get both. But can live with one out of 2.

I think you could argue Youri, Wilf, Fofana, Soyuncu, Evans, Barnes and Justin would get in any team in the league bar Man City on this seasons form.

Castange is as good as most full backs and Madders and Vardy up until recently are as good as there is the Prem(Vardy being 1 of the greatest in his prime).

Nacho has shown mental numbers to cover for current Vardy so I’d argue this squad is as strong as most in the Prem.

Only Chelsea Liverpool Man Utd and City could I agree are better squads than ours, aside that the rest are below us if we’re being honest to ourselves.

With Liverpool’s awful form and injuries we have to take advantage really or we never will!

I agree with you 1/2 I could live with.

How I see it:

Both - Fantastic, dream world.

Just CL - Very happy, we achieved it and held our nerve. FA Cup is disappointing but we arnt favourites so it wouldn’t be a failure more a bonus,

Just FA Cup - a great moment, locked into our history. If we then dropped out last minute in the CL it’ll ultimately be disappointment but at least there’s something for all the effort we’ve put in this year.

Nothing - It just doesn’t bare thinking about, it’s a disaster.

I think we’ll get top 4 but fail for the cup.

Even if that did happen, with the injuries we’ve had and the disruption that comes with it, it’s a fantastic season from Rodgers! That along with Kel and JJ coming out of their counterparts shadows, really great season.

The Dream. This is the penultimate chapter in The Jamie Vardy Story. The final chapter ends with him scoring the winner in the 2022 CL final.

And shushing the Madrid fans at the Bernabeau

Those in bold were all part of a squad what saw us finish 9th - it’s just the players....not the combination of Rodgers developing those players right?

I don't know whether we'll manage both, or one, or neither but I suspect whatever happens deanolegend1989 will find ways to criticise the manager now and constantly in the future

If we don't make it it'll be Claude Puel's fault anyway

Being in the running for both of these things is a dream in and of itself. However it turns out, we will get European football and play an FA Cup Final. It has not been a bad ride from League One, not very long ago at all.

We are in the position where we can have both, and that’s what it’s all about. We can be up there again next season with this squad and manager.

We are living in the golden age of our club.

Do you think  the league is stronger when3 of the top six arewell off pace and with 2 games to go sides who between them have lost a massive 14 at home are well placed to qualify for the champions league .

Youri is the 1 truly world class player and the difference, like Kante in 15/16. In the same way Kante turned us from barely surviving to Prem champions then left and reality kicked in..Youri is of similar importance.

Youri played 2 games before Brendan. It was fortunate timing for Brendan and a team coming of age. He’s took it on and done a decent job but this was a huge opportunity for any decent manager with the set up, squad quality and owners backing for most competent managers to have a good go at it.
