I'd be more interested in a how a table would look if VAR was used correctly, sensibly and consistently.

Would never really know though would you. Unless the VAR decision affected the last kick of the game, impossible to tell how the teams would have reacted.

That's what makes it so frustrating. Sometimes games are on a knife edge and a bad VAR call robs fans of knowing what might have happened.

in essence that's what its for to correct any bad calls so all decisions should be correct but they somehow still get the wrong so its the people using it that are to blame, still think big teams are favoured and it all boils back to money

Which is somehow not reflected in a table which you'd expect to show just this (and it's just one example). Everton were the biggest beneficiary, followed by West Ham. The most hard done by were Arsenal and Brighton.

Sorry, but the money/VAR stuff is absolute, conspiracy theory copium-rich bollocks. If it makes you feel better fine, but it's mental homeopathy

Might as well do a league table of how Sheffield United would've done if they had Mbappe and Haaland in their side.

how do they even come up with that? how do they even know if the ref or linesman would've made the right decisions?

It's not measuring right/wrong decisions (for obvious reasons), it's measuring refs initial call vs. VAR call (both of which are a matter of record), specifically where the latter overturning the former made a difference to the final game outcome

As already pointed out, those decisions not being overturned would have meant the remainder of the game would have been different so it's in no way a reliable indicator of anything other than who initially benefitted or not from specific VAR calls.

Tables without VAR etc... are completely pointless, goals change games, it all totally changes the context of what happens. Nobody really knows.

I wasn't being overly serious I was responding to the one without VAR which is totally pointless as it takes no account of any wrong/right VAR calls so proves nothing.

Yeah you're right completely. I always think back to when we played Spurs at home last season, we had an offside goal ruled out when the game was 0-0 by VAR, Spurs had one ruled out when they were 0-1 up by VAR, yet we won 2-1. What possible result would you put down in a non-VAR world for that?

Of course, a table of 'results' without VAR isn't going to take account of wrong/right VAR calls. So yes, if you only want to talk about whether or not VAR is being used correctly, that table is 'pointless'. But I posted it without context, in a thread title 'VAR', so I'm not sure why it should be seen only in that light.

The (admittedly minor) point of the table is in showing which teams benefitted/lost out most on the immediate VAR calls in terms of +/- goals - that's it. Not claiming it's revelatory, or hugely interesting, but having been on FT for a while (and given the mountains of tedium written about VAR itself) I'm convinced that revelatory and/or interesting is not where the bar for posting is set

VAR is a crock of shit that is ruining the game. The problem is fans can't be objective about it. We moan about it when it goes against us and cheer it when it goes in our favour. I'm not denying the drama it added to the Cup Final and I cheered as wildly as anyone when the "No Goal" flashed up at Wembley but is VAR really what we want?

How would we feel if the it had been us having a last minute equaliser chalked off in the Cup Final? My point is fans can't have it both ways. You can't moan one week and then rejoice in it the next when it goes our way. I remember the home game against Chelsea a couple of season ago where the same fans around me chanted "FVck VAR" and then "VAR! VAR! VAR!" in the same match!

I doubt that it is going to go away so we just have to accept it

I wasn't suggesting you were wrong in posting, I've posted some right crap in my time I just thought if someone was going to all that trouble to compile it I'd be more interested in one that attempted to sort the right from wrong ones although I accept that would be subjective. Some figures on how many hadn't really resolved anything to everyone's satisfaction would give us an idea of how well it was all working.

You are bang on.

When we were last in the ground UFS were very vocal against it. This did not change even when it when on occasions for us. Blokes below us took great delight  in turning around and making a point in celebrating in our direction when it had gone our way.

It will kill the goal experience.

Given its utterly subjective nature, I can't see how anything like this wouldn't be just as polarising VAR itself tbh.

In terms of satisfaction rating, I'd note that people can't half ****ing moan. Which is sort of why we have VAR in the first place.
