I’m sorry I just don’t believe he’s anywhere good enough for where we are now. You can’t be sentimental in football. Let’s be honest if he left right now, who would signed him ? Burnley ? Norwich ? Championships sides ? He’s a legend and I’m not taking that away from him.

so you know better than Rodgers and our financially astute and  well ran board?

We all want the best and most exciting players but it's important to have people like Albrighton in the squad who you know you can bring on at crunch time, in a variety of positions, and be sure you'll get a solid performance.

I'd expect this year he'll still get a fair bit of game time, but in the proceeding two you'd think we'll have more strength in depth out wide and shouldn't need at full back either.

Really happy for him though, it would've been very weird seeing him somewhere else in the prem and hopefully he can retire a fox, perhaps with another piece of silverware!

I'm not so sure about that. I think Marc Albrighton will always play 20-30 games a season until his body can't take it anymore, and that's why he's been given a new contract. He is not our best player, but every time he plays for us, he at minimum puts in a shift. In many games he does much more than that; many times he has come on and made a difference in upping the tempo and getting the team going.

He's the Leicester version of James Milner and I mean that in a very positive way.

Fantastic news . Every season he’s written off . Every time  a new manger is appointed they don’t fancy him but hey presto he’s back in the team . No he’s never gonna set the world alight and he may be on the decline but I can never remember him letting us down . Even when he’s not having a great game he still puts in a shift and never moaned if dropped . With so many youngsters it’s  good to keep an old steady head and hopefully he’ll teach some of them how to ping in a cross .

This has made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Can't wait to see him swinging in some crosses again and giving his all every time he gets a chance.

A true Leicester legend. I remember that Champions League goal (and celebration!) well.

Congrats Marc, well deserved 👏👏👏🦈

Normally, I’d be a bit indifferent but after losing Morgan and Fuchs he’s one of the most senior squad members now. His importance has only appreciated. Consummate professional and I’ve watched interviews in the past where players have said he’s one of the kindest blokes they’ve ever met, so having him around is important to bring balance to a young squad.

*Bring balance to the force...  Oh wait, no...

Great news, offers experience, versatility and is a model pro, loved by everyone at the club and like Vardy and Kasper, clearly loves the place.

yes we are moving forward and it’s highly likely  over the next 3 years he will become less and less of a fixture in the match day squad however there is still an important role that he will play in supporting our younger players and being able to come in and do a job when called upon. Football is much more than just the 18 in a match day squad, Marc will be a key man for us

31 year old fringe player given a a 3 year contract? I can understand keeping him but 3 years is too long of a contract for a player in his position

I personally think he's good for another season, at least (as back up/option, not first choice) but with Burnley sniffing around, 3 years not only keeps him around for the background stuff a la Wes Morgan but also retains his value for a possible future sale.

Wasn't able to fully watch the game so didn't appreciate his assist fully but that was absolutely class. Great to have to him him on board for 3 more years. He's our James Milner type. Still going to have something to contribute in a few years so it's a rare time that I think a 3 year for somebody of his age makes sense.
