Signing of the summer for me. The epitome of all that's good about this club, and what we've  done over the last few years.

Signing of the summer for me, behind Daka and Soumare, of course. :D

Him leaving villa on a free transfer for them to finish dead bottom and Marc getting a PL winners medal is something I frequently think about

And on the same day Nathan Dyer has retired. Two great moves for our wingers during that season (although, of course, Albrighton signed the season before).

If this news doesn’t make you feel good inside, you have no soul.

For the people being a little critical of this deal,  even Shinji gives it the thumbs up!!

People were critical of giving vardy a new contract. Several of our fans don't deserve leicester city.

Really happy with this news.

If he had left it would have been for a nominal fee and made no difference to our finances.

Marc obviously loves it here and must be highly thought of by the management team.

I said in the Albrighton transfer thread that I'd love to see him given an extension.

I also said on there that he's like our James Milner.

There are better players out there, of course, but he's dependable and happy to be part of the squad.

The knowledge he can pass on to some of our younger players is priceless. Get him to work with Luke Thomas on swazzing some balls across the box.

I think we as a Club have often been guilty of giving contract extensions to players that are either past it and not good enough.  In Mark’s case I ‘personally’ feel he still has value both on and off the pitch. Just my opinion.

I feel that we sometimes feel a duty to look after some of our longest and most valued servants towards the latter years of their career if they've been loyal to us, know the club well and help younger players bed in.

and rightly so.

people underestimate how important it is to have old sensible heads about the place who help to keep the culture constant.

it's bigger picture management stuff, you can't expect everyone to understand, I guess.

edit: happy we're keeping marc on
