There's a bid in for the government to fund this, we've moved onto a short list having satisfied the main criteria so we're waiting on the government to get moving on this.

....I suspect that we (the club) will be financing, in some part, access to the revamped premises (road traffic) and if that is not part of our remit, surely advising the Government that they would be prepared to co-finance the project, would almost guarantee an affirmative answer to getting this project done!!!

Both Councils are backing the bid so I doubt the City one would not take it into account when assessing the planning app as I'm sure LCFC will have especially when they've gone out of their way to improve access to the Raw Dykes Monument.

I doubt any amount we might offer will have a significant impact compared to the cost of the whole thing, there's several new stations proposed and they need to reinstate a whole section of track to allow trains to get to London Rd. Station and there's buildings in the way currently.

.....I thought the idea of the project was for people, commuting from certain areas of the city, not necessarily linking with London Road!!!

It'll be the Leicester to Burton per the original.

I think that it wouldn't be justifiable if you don't have the option for all the people along the route to get to Leicester where a lot of them would likely work or visit for socialising. Plus the King Power Stadium stop could then draw in all the people on the Midland Mainline like Mkt Harborough, Loughborough etc.

....how would you envisage linking London Road with King Power station!!!

Are we looking at overhead lines or are we looking at trams to ferry commuters back and forth. It would be interesting to see what would be needed to make this work and the cost.

The Ivanhoe line already runs from Loughborough with stops at Barrow, Syston and Leicester . This would be a continuation of the line .

But you're right it would also be a draw from the midland mainline. Actually thinking about it I'm sure I read that the thinking would be that after Burton it would run on to Birmingham.  Which would be a no brainer for passenger numbers and finance.

Isn't that part of the Midland Mainline?

I'm no rail engineer but in relative terms I'm sure it wouldn't cost too much for the trains to go slightly south of the junction then the driver switch Compartments and go the opposite way .:dunno:

Quite but I think that might have an impact on the efficiency and frequency of trains on the MML which they're trying to improve.

Yea that will always take president but I think freight already do this . So a couple of trains an hour shouldn't be too bad . Maybe with a upsurge on Match day .

Someone will have to decide how far and how much to spend.

I just got an email to say the application status has changed. I can't see anything different other than perhaps the end of consultation is 24 Jan '22. Not sure if it was always that? Had these notifications in the past when a new comment had been added but there doesn't seem to be anything recent.

The planners are all behind and are probably not hitting their required dates.

They tend to contact the applicant and off them the choice of 'voluntarily' extending the dates or having it refused.

Planning application for the enabling works of the services were approved yesterday.

All that remains is the small matter of the hybrid planning application. Consultation ends on Monday 24 January and the target decision date is Thursday 10 February.

I'd have thought that 24th Jan must be an arbitrary date given that all bodies with an interest would've been consulted by now.

In addition I’m surprised about the lack of comments on the planning application. For such a big application I would have expected a lot of comments for and against. I remember seeing plenty on Forests application. I suppose the plan simply not strongly opposed!

Frank is only interested in things that explicitly affect Seagrave.
