Not a lot of pavement room at the North Stand end and it's not exactly spacious at the South Stand end. Fans leaving and heading along the canal to Upperton Rd are going to be squeezed.

I’d imagine that parking away fans coaches somewhere else would significantly ease that congestion - and is an easy fix with the new land acquired

Brilliant news if they are adding seats to North & South stand as well, what fantastic owners & investors we are fortunate to have… :scarf:

No additional seats on the North and south stands just the concourses being expanded. But I don’t see it being a big stretch to add a few more rows on and then change the roof to match that of the new stand.

All being well after the whole master plan has been completed, I wouldn’t be surprised if the west stand had a similar make up. Here’s a very rough mock up based upon the new drawings

I’m not saying what that looks like

Maybe but the advantage at the moment is those fans can be escorted quickly to their buses if the buses are further away it increases the chance of trouble and you'd need more police.

Do you think that anyone has thought about the exposed nature of the upper tier in the new stand ?

the prevailing wind direction is sw which will blow straight into the stand with nothing in its way. (How good is the overhang of the roof re rain protection with a stiff wind)

I remember the Carling stand being freezing when we had an easterly wind (which is obvs a lot less than the prevailing westerly)

I would be thinking twice about sitting up there for the whole season!

They won't have an end they'll just be further around into the north stand than they are now. More than likely the old N Block or P Block as its known now.

For context and I hope this makes sense.

The away end currently has the L out of the LEICESTER CITY(seats wise) L Block starts with the letter E.

Looks like the stair segregation has been moved to the start of the L instead of it being between the L and E currently.

I believe the new camera gantry will be in the West Stand to give the best view of the shiney new East Stand (which also includes the away fans unfortunately). Shame they can't be moved to the other corner (A Block?) but that will be directly in front of the Gallery restaurant.

Feels like it's one of those designs you can only really judge in person. Overall though another amazing investment by our owners.

Has there been any info yet on reduced capacity while it's being built; how long for and by how much? Can't imagine it's something they can knock up during the close season!

Not sure if there will be any or if they are doing it like Liverpool where they build around the existing stand then when the season finishes, spend 4 months bringing everything together.

However, even if so, there will inevitably be disruptions.

I think they've said they'll limit a reduction in capacity during construction as much as possible. I think the bulk of the construction will be done behind the existing East stand with the existing stand unaffected, and then the old roof taken down and the extension stitched to the existing stand during the close season. I guess it's possible that we could have only away fixtures at the beginning of the following season if needed.

I think that Cardiff stand looks worse as its red and therefore doesn't belong (perhaps it's a Wales thing?). However, it does give it a unique feel rather than the dull standard bowl even if it is a bit misplaced (although it does fulfil its primary purpose of letting more fans in to watch live football).

I think the red seats were added at a time when Vincent Tan ran the club (maybe he still does) but he changed their shirts to red and thus, the new stand got red seats

I think it was more of a Malaysian/Chinese culture thing - isn’t red a lucky colour in that part of the world? Tan also changed their shirts to red for a few years. He’s still there I think.

Seems like the extension is going to line up and be level with the bit that sticks out so still leaves a sizeable area outside the North stand

It really does look phenomenal and the scale of it is pretty incomprehensible. Looking at the Drawings and photo mock ups it’s going to be a huge East Stand and a real focal point of the stadium with the fan area outside.

Almost as encouraging is the expanded concourses at either end of the ground, I might be jumping the gun slightly, but to me it’s a clear indication that the club is serious about the potential extension of the North & South stands too in the future (which is what Whelan openly said in the webinar a few months ago).

EXCITING TIMES!!! GET THE DIGGERS IN LADS!!!!

Away Fans in A block would then be in-front of the executive boxes and next to the gallery

The bolt on areas just go out to the part that sticks out from the West stand doesn’t it? That was certainly my interpretation from the plans anyway.

EDIT: That’s what you said wasn’t it? I agree!

Does that red line outline the boundary of the land owned by King Power? If so, they own the roundabout/junction with Burnmoor Street and part of Raw Dykes Road?

The red line is permission to develop, they have got to change the junction slightly as the east stand comes out where the service road currently is
