First proper day off for them in probably two weeks (excepting the training ground closure). Gotta balance the ying with the yang. Start calling that ginger oaf out on mental health etc

Oi, don’t talk about our Harvey like that

14 pages of people seemingly not getting it as all I read is "ladz have done nothing wrong" "ladz deserve some down time" People comparing their lives and experience to a professional footballer as they some how think they relate etc... Surely people can't be this naive?

Football is hanging on by a thread at the moment. Clubs are trying desperately to manage the spread to keep fixtures going by cancelling training, isolating people where necessary etc.

One thing we know from Omicron is that it spreads like wildfire. There's a chance now that they have picked up Covid at the darts meaning that we would be weakened even further for the next game. If this happens (and I really hope it doesn't) it would be purely on them!

I'm also disappointed that KDH was there as he came across to me as someone hugely focused and hell bent on taking his chance in the team. If he finds himself out now then he'll only have himself to blame.

So you are suggesting that until everything calms down that all of the players sit inside at home for the duration doing absolutely nothing?

Because you can get it from literally anywhere.

So what's allowed? A meal in a restaurant? Shopping for clothes? Shopping for food? A family meal at home? Going to your kids nativity? Seeing friends?

Would I have done it, perhaps not. But they've broken no rules, at least they are vaccinated.

I'd image an indoor venue with 3000 drunk singing people increases your chances some what considerably.

It only seems outrageous because of how you’ve put it….

The virus doesn’t suddenly become more potent or transmissible because you’ve had a couple of swills, it’s potent regardless….

In the gym, in a restaurant, in a cinema, in a library, in a hospital, in a gentleman’s club, in pub…. Anywhere…

The lads aren’t being reckless, they’re not being irresponsible, they’re doing what everyone else is doing and just enjoying life.

The NHS are also hanging by a thread, but I can 100% guarantee that there will be doctors and nurses going out to the cinema, going out to a restaurant or even going to the darts maybe?

So does playing in front of 30,000 + fans at a football match 🤷‍♂️

Football is hanging on by a thread because of how much testing is taking place, It needs scaling back. But that’s for the Covid thread.

You can literally pick it up anywhere, if one of them does get covid there’s no guarantee it’s come from the darts.

TalkShite talk shite to rustle feathers and get more football fans to listen in to find out what everyone is talking about.

This thread has given the Daily Mail more visitors and an increase in advertising revenue too.

Sensationalism pays the bills.

I agree that they should be able to attend and I don't understand what all the fuss is about. But how do you know they are vaccinated?

This becomes a problem if the club has ordered them not to go or they break any government rules. The fact that they have done neither suggests that what they are doing is completely fine.

I'd presumed they would have to show the passport, but from what I can find online it says a negative test was also ok. So potentially a negative test would have sufficed.

To go somewhere so high risk and be really public about it is not a smart move.

If I chose to go to the darts, in the back of my mind somewhere I'd be telling myself "there's a high risk I might be picking the virus up here" the thing is, my role in society means there's people who easily replace me and I don't have a direct effect on a multi-billion pound industry that people rely on for so many reasons.

Surely they realise what direct impact they will have on so many people if they become positive?

Yes proof of vaccination status or a negative LFT.

That’s the point of this though. It literally doesn’t. Unless you stay holed up until this is all over, you’re going to catch this latest variant. I’m triple vaxxed and wear a mask everywhere I go and yet I’ve picked it up this weekend. Did I go to a 3k person event indoors? No, I went to the shopping center doing some errands.

So would a doctor getting it, but if they'd avoided football for fear of getting it, that Newcastle fan could have died. Clearly not the same, but it's only a sport and not life and death, the games will still get played.

People seem to have an issue with doing it in public, if that's what people are concerned of then it's a bit silly. It's either wrong or it's not, just because some gimp on talk sport is going to use it to bash you, doesn't make it wrong.

I'd be very surprised if even one player has caught the virus off a fan at the football.

Stan did prefer outdoor activities tbf.

Singing indoors increases the chance of transmission. Alcohol causes less awareness of surroundings and boundaries.
