Some of our best form since BR took over was with Maddison at 8.

Maddison's work rate and defensive work is easily equal to Youri's, if not better.

All this crap about a lightweight midfield go forward over the last 3 seasons we have been pretty good when Maddison, Tielemens and Ndidi have played together, hardly a bunch of bruisers

To build on this there’s not many times I think Maddison’s cost us a goal from defensive position or got beat too easily by an opponent. He’s solid defensively for us. Was looking stronger last season too. Hoping he can build on last seasons stats.

A starting midfield 3 of KDH, Ndidi and Maddison gives you absolutely everything provided that Ndidi is a destroyer.

Leaves space for CDK to go wide right if thats the plan.

...when playing deeper he does have a tendency to look to want to constantly take the ball from the backline,  that is not where we want him to be!!!

He has been berated for this previously, but he does like to get on the ball a lot. His work rate has improved last season, so there us no cause for concern there.

We just do not want him drifting into areas that he has no need to be.

He’s done that playing as a ten too, tends to be when he’s frustrated and we are losing

In terms of CDK, is he fast? He looks like he has quick feet and can beat a man, but you have to have a bit of pace to play on the wing. Does he have a good defensive workrate? And do we think he'd slot straight into the team?

If he going to cost between £30 or 40 million he will go straight into the team of course probably playing the right channel. At that price he had better be good , we can't afford to carry anybody.

I think there's a bit of confusion with this, when Tielemans 1st came in Maddison and Tielemans played as advanced 8's in a 4-1-4-1 but from 2020/21 onwards when we went 4-2-3-1 then saying Maddison was an 8 is misleading, he was the most advanced midfielder centrally so you'd argue he was a 10.

In 2021/22 when we've moved to 4-3-3 to class him as an 8 again was when he was playing either much deeper in the midfield 3 (which I think is where some fans are saying its not his best position) or in the front 3 where he was playing on the right (a position I'd never have said he was any good in until that final part of the season where he was absolutely mustard where ever he played as long as he was in an advanced position).

Ndidi, KDH, and Madders is far to lightweight and would get steam rollered more often than not.

6-0 away to West Ham if we start with that trio

Do you think a midfield of Ndidi, Youri and Madders is lightweight?

Simple solution to it all - stop playing Ndidi in a double pivot, let him be on his own sweeping across between the defence and midfield like he does best, then the midfielders in front of him can do what they like

Not that simple as Rodgers doesn't want it to be Ndidi receiving the ball from defence so Tielemans has had to drop deeper to avoid that.

Well he's 6'4 and with his long stride he'll be more than handy on the wing. There's a bunch of clips of him turning Man City and PSG players.

Wouldn't call his pace electric but it's not bad

He’s not the first 6’4”+ winger that we’ve had

Have Milan announced this yet?  Surprised Serglo from Enzoby has not posted anything yet.

If we really are going for this fella, I wonder who his alternative is in case we miss out.... An out and out striker? A winger? A secondary striker? A number 10?

Thought it might be Ali-Cho but he's signing for Real Sociedad.

Really think it'll be Joel Piroe if we don't get CDK

As far as I can tell that's not going to be the case. He's not versatile enough to be played on the wing on a regular basis.

I don’t think BR wants our new right sided player to play on the wing. I assume he’s looking for someone who cuts inside with their left foot (thus overloading and overpowering the midfield/attack.

If this is the case, Joel Piroe could be a sensible ( not necessary eye catching) purchase.

.. but he (Piroe) could play inside left our SS!!!

He would be an asset to this club, and we do need players capable of unlocking defences or being excellent in deadball situations.
