I think getting rid of Ortega for Trafford is a bit mad to be honest.  He's English/homegrown I suppose so there's that benefit.  And he's got age on his side, I didn't realise Ortega was 32!

Trafford will be England number one with a year or so. Probably immediately after the World Cup.

Just to throw a spanner in the works I think Ortega is better than Ederson at the Mo. Burnley would be mental not to sign him

He’s done a story about the West Ham goalkeeper situation, so I assume it’s a mention in that about Mads.

As long as he doesn't get massively exposed like he was under Cooper, he is probably a decent Lower Prem fullback.

 

I don't mind him wanting to go (if he does) as we have some cover, and he's not going to be as suited to the inverted role as Ricky and Hamza.

 

If he stayed, he would probably find game time at leftback like he did under Maresca.

Justin has been a solid servant for us, more than got our outlay on him in terms of output. His performances up until his injury in the 2020/21 season were excellent. He's the sort that given his likely high wages and minimal book value that we should be sensible with. If Leeds offered £5m and covered all his wages then I'd call that par for the course.

I do think Justin gets too much criticism and some people forget just how good he was pre injury , I believe a lot of his issues now are mental and he doesn't trust his body like he did before 

 

Also his injury was so unnecessary only if Rodgers would've rested him instead of playing him in the league cup his career would've been different

Lots of players I’d want rid of before JJ.

 

Can never fault his effort, he takes accountability and seems like a nice guy.

I’ve said this many times, due to his wages we should be moving him on at the first reasonable offer. Good player for this level, but at probably around £70k a week you’d need to be someone pretty much guaranteeing promotion for us.

 

Same applies to every player we have currently earning about £30k a week, and even then you’d have to say that championship clubs can only afford 3/4 of them in the squad.

Until we start to move anyone, we can’t really be holding onto any of the squad if there’s genuine interest. If we shipped out Kristiansen and a couple more defenders, we could (and probably should) bat away any bids for someone like Justin. But until that point, we have to accept that we may lose a few we’d prefer to hold onto. 

I’m surprised that there haven’t been any obvious signs of clubs looking to pick at the bones of our squad (although maybe we just haven’t heard about it), but if I was a Bournemouth, Brentford or that ilk - maybe even top end Championship - I’d be sniffing for bargains. The likes of Fatawu, El Khannous, Hermansen on a cheap deal or even a Winks, Mavididi, Justin type for perhaps next to nothing.

Mad that we have CMs that cost £15, 20, 25 million and get paid approx £100k pw each, yet you'd be flabergasted if even one of them scored a goal in the Championship this season.

It should be no more than 2 years. But I'd find it hard to argue with signing him. 18 goals as a midfielder is tremendous. Think all of our Central Midfielders plus Daka and Ayew combined might struggle to get that

I think this would be a decent signing and makes sense. You never know in football, but its hard to see him working out like Bobby Reid.

 

My assumption is we have to sell soumare and/or ndidi so it will be needed! 

 

I really just want to see more confirmed outgoings 🙏
