Maybe, but I guess the point I’m trying to make is that we are more likely to be offering him £20k/£30k a week and he doesnt sign that, so we need to be selling him now.

I hear you - be shame to lose a fee altogether. He will be a big help in this campaign though if we do hope to get promoted straight back. It's a gamble that's for sure.

I agree that he’s a good player to have in this league and I’m sure he will stay for this season and leave on a free at the end but if we get a semi reasonable offer I think we will look to move him on. Same applies to Winks for me, and probably Luke Thomas although I suspect we get him on a new contract. You move a few of them earners on for £5m upwards and you have a some extra cash in the pot and £10m saved in wages that you wouldn’t have previously had.
Claudio Fannieri Posted 21 July 2025 Posted 21 July 2025 Wouldn’t be surprised if the Besiktas interest has been leaked by JJ’s representatives to try and generate interest from Premier League clubs, there could be some tentative interest that’s been shown and they want to try and hurry it along. JJ would be a decent squad/rotation option for any mid/lower level premier league club.

No brainer really isn't it. 1

I could see him ending up at a club like Fulham or Everton, probably get him for £7.5m over a 3 year deal it’s £2.5m per year PSR for an experienced premier league defender who can cover both full back roles. 1

Completely agree which shows the value in him - some fans are quick to dismiss the quality we do have and our record of upgrading in recent times leaves a bit to be desired - he’s a good pro with a good attitude too - should be low on our list of players to discard imo 2

Bluearmyfox28 Posted 21 July 2025 Posted 21 July 2025 Before pre-season I would have said selling JJ would be silly due to his versatility, but I do think we have a ready made replacement in Aluko. So selling JJ would be higher in priorities if we need the cash.
moore_94 Posted 21 July 2025 Posted 21 July 2025 They definitely aren’t going to come in for JJ permanently 1

lcfcsnow Posted 21 July 2025 Posted 21 July 2025 No sense in selling Justin when we've got Choudhury and Thomas still here both are much worse 1

I'd take anything over £3-4m for him. 9

Not sure where else he'd get more than £30k a week nowadays. He's had the peak of his career, he'll have no resale value at the end of his next contract.

This bipolar nature of our recruitment pretty much all but guarantees what you're suggesting will never happen. 1

If we can sell him now it’s a no brainer, he’ll go at the end of the season regardless and we have plenty of options at FB. 1

I’ve no issue with Soumare or Daka disappearing on loan never to be seen again, but Justin is versatile and unless we get a fee for him we might as well use him Not saying we should but a loan would get his wages of the bill and probably get us a loan fee of 500k - 2 m so there would be a point to it. It's better than keeping him not playing him much and then letting him leave for free
