LCFC1996 Posted 28 June Posted 28 June I mean cracking signing if we pulled it off but hard to see it 1

Sounds very unlikely doesn’t it?! Think the sun has got to Nixon bless him. Zero chance this happens, there is no pot to piss on let alone millions of pounds to sign players from the prem 1

honeybradger Posted 28 June Posted 28 June (edited) He's the Crystal Palace version of Hamza Choudhury, perhaps a worse player than Choudhury. Just because he's a squad player at Prem level doesn't mean he will be good as a starter at league one level. We have Braybrooke who was considered a bigger talent than Wharton before his injury FFS, just play him. Page as well has a future as a prem starter, something Devenny will never be. Look at what Palace fans have to say about him Edited 28 June by honeybradger

Look at what Palace fans have to say about him RM likely going to start a mixture of 3 central midfielders every game and i cant think any midfielders from last year that will stay or i want to stay other than Page, aswell as bringing Braybrooke back that means we need about 3/4 new central midfielders that are already good enough. Hopefully were selling or loaning to break even on Hamza (pure profit) Winks Skipp BDCR we lost james mukasa just because we buy someone doesnt mean they are replacing braybrooke and page

We will have some stragglers next season and game time for our young talents is never guaranteed. Remember we brought in Aribo last season to keep Page off the bench. Bringing in a 3rd rate player to make up the numbers is never a good idea.
st albans fox Posted 28 June Posted 28 June The more midfielders that we’re linked to, the more likely that we intend selling some of our youngsters in that area whether it happens is another matter
Ric Flair Posted 28 June Posted 28 June We've got absolutely no business going for players like that. I suspect this is a load of pony. 3
Rubbersoul Posted 28 June Posted 28 June I know we’re now 2 divisions below but I’ve only ever seen Palace fans say he’s absolutely rubbish 2

That’s how you make your budget stretch. They are called reserves for a reason. You can’t afford to pay 3 players 50k a week for the same position , and neither can we afford for two of them making that money to sit on the bench in the 1st division. Players that are the same quality as our starting 11 won’t be happy sitting on the bench. sad but true.

The problem is that we bring in players to make up the numbers and they end up starting and tanking the club (Ayew, Cordova Reid) or they come in and aren't trusted enough to play (Édouard, Carranza, Aribo). Bringing in players to make up the bench just blocks opportunities for our own players.

We simply had no money to spend on anyone decent. Scraping the bottom of the barrel, so to speak. but we should see those as a warning as to why we can’t buy 3 quality strikers on a high wage when only one of them can play. And of course as to why we can’t pay over inflated wages any more for back up players.-if we stop doing that then maybe we can get someone with a pulse who knows where the net is.

I'm not suggesting spending money or loans on backup players. I'm saying we should look to the academy. Why bring in Devenny when we could play Logan Briggs. One of the worst transfers we made in Soumare could have been avoided by trusting Dewsbury Hall. Edited 28 June by honeybradger 1
