If they won't put up a statue of players then those pictures of Vichai on the stadium for me really ought to be of players.

I think they should be anyway.

Players throughout our history.

I agree wholeheartedly with the statute of Vichai and can't wait to see it when it's finished.

As for statutes of players where do you start? It's a minefield for fear of missing someone out.

The whole 2015/16 season squad would have to be included.

That's why we need a wall of fame that can be added to. I'm not one for statues all over the place. The Vichai one is very appropriate though.

The outside of the stadium will look very different by the time the new development is complete.

Even if you did a Hall of fame of players, you'll still have people debating about who goes in and who doesnt.

Wonder what other clubs do to honour ex legendary players?

They won't though. Of course i love the man and what he did , but with this , the pictures, and the memorial garden , it seems it's just all about him.

Guessing i'll get shot down for this.

The statue is a brilliant touch, memorial garden for all those who died is also great with it being an area anyone can spend time in.

But I agree, it's time we now start recognising past players etc with tributes around the ground. That being pictures, mural type things (similar to those around the city) or a wall of fame type thing in the extension.

That original frieze was pretty cool. Could've done with modernisation but it was a real nod to history.

We could do something similar to this. It would pay for itself as well.

I’m a huge fan of the statue- and think it’s a fitting touch

But the club definitely needs to give our ground some identity and acknowledgment of past players/ achievements that can be seen by everyone.

Currently it all feels very bland- like our history is meaningless/ is being forgotten.

My only hope is with the stand extension that the club will take on suggestions- just feels like we’ve lost our identity over the past decade a little.

Its small suggestions like above: Hall of fame, Naming the stands officially etc

There'll definitely be statues of players, I'm pretty sure that's a given. Probably best to leave it until they all retire though. Would love one of Claudio when he retires.

Interestingly the club did get planning permission a few years ago for a bronze display that would have gone on the side of the stadium.

Glad it didn't get made personally.

20 years and the promise of a museum with the then new stadium is still no where in sight, some donations were even lost mislaid.

Banners and posters removed.

It’s a very poor situation and even with the expansion proposals nothing I’ve seen has been mentioned to rectify this.

A big blot on the club’s administrators.

I'd prefer that to several statues. Think it could look classy in the right position.

I do get pretty annoyed when I do aways and a lot of clubs have their history across the outside of the ground, or something similar.

We don't have anything like that. Our ground is very bland.

A museum basically got a tiny mention as something being under consideration and possibly part of the new fanstore

https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/leicester-news/leicester-city-stadium-expansion-breakdown-6155909

"The club has also expressed a desire to include a museum about Leicester City Football Club, so people can find out more about the history of the team we know and love today - but it is currently under consideration at the moment."

But still a shame nothing concrete

Just get a timeline of the club wrapping around the outside of the fanstore or something like that, at least have something somewhere to display our history

A very proud one too.

Hate to say it but even Man City, up near me, have done a better job. There's nods to Maine Road, older players and so forth. Even if the majority of it comes from the last decade.

I'd like to see some proper tifo/ banners. Not a huge fan of statues but I like the idea of maybe some different installations for things - a Vardy celebration, lifting the cups (ALL of them, not just since 2016), the word Fosse somewhere, too.

I do a lot of work at West Ham and I must say have done as best as they can with their new ground.

Now don’t mis-understand me, I think their new stadium is awful for watching football in, it’s clearly a multi-purpose stadium and the football atmosphere suffers for it

But…..

They’ve covered all of the exit doors with the lyrics to “Bubbles” they have their new statue of Bobby Moore outside, the entire of the concourse is dedicated to their history…… they even have some sort of legacy wall covered in thousands of fans names who O think donated money at some point.

Most of all the above is just signage. It’s nothing special but it is there. Could easily be done around the king power

Perhaps the club isn't aware of this? How do we tell them?

They are, UFS has mentioned many of the above countless times. They just seem to not see the importance of this to the fans. If you fill your club with non football people and an intense internal feeling and culture to ‘please’ the owners you get this.

This topic must come up on stadium tours as people are being shown around a nice, neat corporate structure that says very little about the clubs history beyond the King Power era.

They must understand the importance given the features they publish by the club historian on a regular basis. Some of that awareness needs to be translated into physical images and symbolism. It can't be that difficult and would even add to the commercial value by promoting the clubs image.
