Delighted about this. As others have said it would be nice for a certain few players to get one as a nod to their achievements.

We could have our very own Mt. Rushmore on one side of the stadium lol

You joke but that, I think, is the way to go on honouring players (on a smaller scale, obvs). Statues are not always appropriate but a legends wall would acknowledge their achievements and can be added to in the future.

Wasn’t there talk of the guy who did the mural on Kate Street redoing it at the stadium after the development?

No idea to be honest mate. I don't know how lime these kind of things usually take clubs to do but I thought we'd have had something by now

Looks really good. Classy and glad there is one.

Also agree with the shouts for players to get one too. Guess the old dilemma remains in that if you give it to one, who else should/would get one? And do they get it while they're at the club or when they leave/retire?

Would argue there are more players deserving of one to be honest.

Achievements with Leicester are more important than with England when it comes to putting a statue outside the KP.

There should be statues/tributes to more than just 1 or 2 players throughout our long history.

As for Banks, in addition to winning the World Cup he was in the first City side to win a major trophy, and appeared in 3 FA Cup Finals. Pretty decent achievements whilst with Leicester!

Of course our recent players and successes should be represented, but other legends too. Chandler, Rowley, Cross, etc. for their scoring and appearances, then those from the great sides in the 60s, 70s and 90s.

I like the suggestion of a legends wall, perhaps more realistic than throwing lots of individual statues up all over the place?

If it was just one player who would people like it to be? Gotta be Vardy for me but I can imagine many would say Wes

One player has to be Vardy. No contest. Personally I think a group containing Vichai Vardy Wes and Kasper would have been great. Tough to leave people out though. Need to leave some space for hero’s yet to be. Incentivise people to stay (youri that means you!)

Now get some players ones.

Again club have us check mate with this. Apparent little desire to build anything for any players or managers as well as saying anything that would be fundraised by the supporters would not be entertained. At their mercy with it.

Shame if so. We are a football club, therefore what better way to demonstrate our success than statues of some of our illustrious players.

I understand the concern that where do you draw the line and how many statues do you end up having etc but would have thought there could be a group one of Vardy, Morgan and Schmeichel to commemorate the greatest sporting story ever told and FA Cup wins. Wouldn’t have thought such a statue would actually come to fruition for 5/10 years or so when they’re all retired. If in future there are other club legends, nothing stopping there being a similar group statue to commemorate big achievements.

Would’ve thought these sorts of things would be perfect for the whole Fan Zone aspect with the stadium expansion.

Just seen the club have submitted a new planning application for this statue. All the detailed designs are on there.

Looks like it stands 2.5m off the ground on what they describe as a Leicester blue marble plinth, with the statue itself being 2.7m high and Vichai himself giving a thumbs up.

A really fitting tribute!

I'm happy to see a statue for him but I personally feel this would have been better placed in, or near the remembrance garden.

I think the thing with the remembrance garden is it's quite out the way. Not something you would necessarily pass in going to your seat. Whereas being in the front is out there for all matchgoers (and people driving past the ground in general) to see.

Wouldn't have minded either way but can see why the club have done it.

Personally I'd prefer a statue of Morgan and Ranieri lifting the title and then a legends wall somewhere.

It would have been a bit weird if he wasn't giving a thumbs up.

Anything outside of that or him holding the PL trophy would have been wrong IMO.

Has to be Vardy with his hands out after he scores his 11th goal in a row, surely? Or the Class of 2016 that Albrighton, Fuchs, Vardy, Morgan & Kasper took after lifting the FA Cup?

^ i understand a group statue is very unlikely though. So i’d have to say definitely a statue of Vardy once he finally hangs his boots up
