Wasn’t there talk of the guy who did the mural on Kate Street redoing it at the stadium after the development?

Soulsby promised that it would be recreated on a 'prominent' route into the city. Still waiting, Pete.

Just seen the club have submitted a new planning application for this statue. All the detailed designs are on there.

Looks like it stands 2.5m off the ground on what they describe as a Leicester blue marble plinth, with the statue itself being 2.7m high and Vichai himself giving a thumbs up.

A really fitting tribute!

Blimey, at over 5m that is going to be big. I think it was smaller in the original application but they must be sure of getting approval as it must already be built and be in storage somewhere by now.

Sounds fantastic, can't wait to see the finished article.

I just worry about this. A statue. Something that really means something to us and then the other fans and vandals and what they'll do to it for shits and giggles and how angry offended and embarrassed we'll all feel for the family. Hope to be proved wrong.

I know what you mean. How long before it gets tagged by some wannabe street 'artist'? Or some pissed up fool climbing up on it for a Facebook photo to impress his mates.

I dunno, Michael Jackson's Fulham statue was always left alone in spite of being a ped...I'll stop there

I really really doubt it - football can be riddled with hooligans disguising themselves as 'fans' but I don't believe people would be that low.

I for one, can't wait for this. A really fitting tribute to the man that made our dreams a reality

I don’t have your faith.

Not really happened anywhere else though.

Loads of grounds have statues without issues.

I still don't understand why the original was painted over. Last time I was down that way, nothing had been developed or changed. I noticed too that King and Vardy have survived still.

that’s possibly why it’s going to be so tall and off the ground, I’d imagine..

I just hope whoever’s doing the statue itself isn’t the same person who did the Ronaldo one..

Where the original mural was, has now been converted into flats , I think it's the back of what was Marks Electrical. King & Vardy are still there because they're on the side wall.

As if Top won’t have someone checking it every single day 👍

Not 24/7 he won't. To be positive, I've not noticed any graffiti on the outside of the stadium or in Vichai's garden so perhaps it might be OK. You can only hope.

There is security on site 24/7 at the ground isnt there? Surely checking the statue on the rounds becomes standard?

Yeah there is, they quick as a flash pulled the RIP Frank Worthington banner down.
