Spot on tbf and I've said similar since the programme on title day had Vichai on the front.  KP have been incredible for us, the Thai's themselves have been generous beyond belief to the community but they're not the club. My big criticism of King Power is that they are to us what the Premier League is to top flight football. The years that went before - the history, players, cups etc barely get a mention - and everything from the last decade or so IS the club's history. It's still a black mark against the club that we have zero tributes in the ground to Gordon Banks and yet the memorial garden and this statue have gone up in double quick time.

Think you’ve summed it up pretty much.

Like i’m not necessarily all for statues for every player that’s played for our club- and i understand that putting up statues is a lengthy process.

But even something like replacing a few of the blue panels on the outside of the stadium, and replacing them with some pictures of past achievements (like you said pre KP, not just 2010 onwards). For example a bit like the photos they have just before KO on the countdown.

Again i’m aware that banners outside is probably an outdated idea, and that after the stadium expansion they probably will all be removed anyways. But i think the main thing for people on here, is that our stadium and the surroundings currently are so bland and lack any identity to our history.

We've also lost the banner inside

I don't think that you should be criticised. For me the Vichai statue should have been at the memorial. The corner statue had to be of Wes and Claudio lifting the trophy or that image of Mahrez on Vardy's shoulders.

As for pictures,  they make me cringe a little bit now because it's all brand and owners.

We won the Championship, Premier League and FA Cup. The whole stadium should be a big celebration of what the club have achieved on the pitch, ramming it down the throat of anyone who comes near the stadium.

Memorial for contemplation and reflection. Stadium for celebration.

I don't have a issue with Vichai Statue.

But I agree it would be nice to have a statue of the Title winning side, but it needs to have Vardy and Kasper in it for me, so would need to wait for them to hang up their boots at LCFC first.

Hopefully the new ground development see the introduction of a museum.

There wont be any banners on the external once the development plans are completed so i wouldn't worry about it.

Banners are very league one. The new finish will make it look much better.

I thought this was a massive shame when they did this. Agree on the statue too - think it should have gone somewhere else

I genuinely don’t know couldn’t have been the memorial garden. In front of the new arena at the spot of the crash would have been just as perfect.

We need something similar to Wembley concourses with historic games at Wembley, World Cup, European Championships etc.

Would be a welcomed edition by everyone to show our history etc wouldn't it?

We should definitely have white silhouettes of our trophies won with the years won, on a freeze along one of the stands, like my background photo, but with the FA cup and recent charity shield….and the ECL trophy 🏆🤞🏻👀

Always thought the location of his statue since it was announced was too prominent. Vichai shouldn't be the first thing alot of home fans see as they approach the stadium from along the river; we're football fans who support a football club, our on the pitch history and achievements should be front and centre.

Having a monument to Vichai is fine given where he lifted the whole club to ... and after what tragically happened at the KP to the 5 onboard that helicopter. He should be celebrated by us.

I think he should be placed by the official entrance along the West Stand facing thumb up, to the pitch and the east.

Maybe there is room for this in the future, when inevitably we erect footballing legends around the ground they prowled, to have them greeting and encouraging our fans.

Yeah, I meant to put that in my earlier reply, it was one thing that gave the stadium a bit of individuality, not just another featureless bowl. There was no actual reason to lose it when they rebrtanded, could just have easily draped the KP logo where the Walker Stadium bit went.

But the longer it goes on, the less likely it is we'll have anything like that again, unless fan reps are ever made part of the board.

Should have those banners/posters at top of lampposts they usually have when a big tournament/event comes along in any big city. But have them permanent of course around the stadium.

Don't mind the banners on the outside of the ground. Understand they may go with the expansion.

Also in the camp that miss the banner inside with the historic moments. I'm glad they still have the montage pre-game with a nod to history, but some things should and do deserve more than just a 'nod'.

We should never forget out history, our roots and everything that happened that led to where we are. Silly to dismiss anything King Power/Vichai & family have done for us, but even worse is to 'erase' historic moments and iconic people associated with the club before they KP/Vichai came on the scene.

I have some in my garage, not looked at it since I bought it.

Maybe changeable banners or something to celebrate particular anniversaries. This year is 25 years of the Martin O'Neill league cup, then 2024 will be 60 years (I believe) of the first one with Matt Gillies.

I would genuinely love to see some kind of celebration of that.

This is a great idea and exactly right. - we need to get the balance right between the recent and historic past.

Would've been Vichai's birthday tomorrow. Perhaps they will be having a private family ceremony with the monks before an official unveiling later at some point.

I'd imagine something before the Palace game there'll be an unveiling.
