It’s cringeworthy in the sense of how much it’s fallen on a general basis, I agree. 
But it’s up to those that remember it being brilliant every game to try and get it back to that level again. Even if it is pissing in the wind

Good luck to you. Some of my favourite memories of the new ground pre-Premier League were being in L1 for Howard's winner against Leeds and a mental 15 minutes of Ring of Fire v Peterborough. Hope the lads who do care there can get organised because I fear for L1's future when the expansion happens if they don't.

I think L1 as we know/knew it will go at that point anyway.

L is always better with a full away end or a very vocal away end as it seems to get a lot more people involved in creating an atmosphere. I would suggest to anyone if they can get over to the singing block to do it and help create the atmosphere. Any spares that become available in K/L will be full of “weekend offenders” who become instantly rock solid because there’s a barrier in the way.

Where I am you can’t hear SK1 all that often (not a dig) partly due to noise from L/the away end and partly due to the sound not travelling that well. It’s clear though the singing block makes effective noise.

Noise on the ground seems to travel in straight lines. I used to sit in A block and could obviously hear L1, would normally hear SK1 a couple of times a game too.

 

Hooefully the new stand will improve the acoustics generally

SK1 and L1 definitely aren't rivals, and anyone who thinks  this is missing the point massively. I think prior precedent proves that you can pack out both sections and make a huge noise on the right day. It would be huge for the players if we could have two truly loud sections at either end of the ground. And yes, the sound travels to the pitch, so no, no noise coming from the "other" section doesn't mean that it's not there, we need to get over the idea of trying to compare them or worse, trying to merge them. They offer different things for different fans.

I can see an opening in the market for an SK1/L1 half and half scarves.
