http://sportwitness.co.uk/leicester-eyeing-bundesliga-duo-ahead-summer-concrete-enquiries-one-trying-sign/

Leicester City have made ‘concrete enquiries’ for Hoffenheim midfielder Christoph Baumgartner, and he may not be the only arrival from the Bundesliga this summer.

That’s according to SportBILD, who say that the Foxes also have their eye on Union Berlin striker Taiwo Awoniyi.

Awoniyi, meanwhile, has been earning attention after scoring 13 goals for Union Berlin following a permanent move from Liverpool in the summer.

That’s earned him plenty of attention, and SportBILD say number of ‘English middle-class clubs’ such as Leicester are ‘trying to sign him’ in the summer.

They’re boosted by the fact the player is determined to play in the Premier League, having admitted that’s been his ‘dream’ since he was a boy.

His €20m release clause is not all that prohibitive either, particularly for someone like Leicester, whose owners are happy to give Brendan Rodgers money to spend.

Seen this boy live a few times as I'm living in Berlin atm. There's definitely something about him but I suspect he'll need a bedding in year like Daka. Still, we've signed every big Nigerian striker outside of Osimhen so why not

Would have been a Rodgers Liverpool signing back in 2015 which is probably why we are linked, other than that he’s linked to Newcastle, West Ham & Southampton.

Seems strange as he only signed on a perm with Union Berlin last summer

our evolution as a club would be signing someone like this and immediately loaning him to a promoted side. This is how we take the next step imo. Either good enough for our first team or you sell on for a decent profit.

As much as i hate chelsea, there system is very good

....not sure if I like the idea of buying in players and then loaning them out and selling on in order to grow our club!!!

Indirectly I can see to a point that is how the system works, but I would rather we are bringing players through our own academy and profiting that way than bringing in players with the soul intention of building profit.

The idea would be that they are bought to hopefully make the first team. But if they dont quite cut it, still make some money.   I just dont think it would be worth having a 20 year old striker in the squad without european football, while we have 3 strikers already at the club and mostly  only play 1 at a time.

We don't have £20m to spend on a player that wouldn't even be in our squad for a season, and if they don't quite cut it, you're making no money on £20m.

Just shows the pull of the Premier League. With Union being one the hipsters' favourite clubs and them qualifying for Europe again, not to mention the possibility of them establishing themselves as the German capital's best club while Hertha continue to flounder, I'd have thought he'd want to stay there and kick on.

I guess a good season back in England could see him get a bigger move however, perhaps to "your Tottenhams, your Chelseas, your Leicester Citys" :P

Tbf, If you come to the Prem to a side that are relegation candidates it might be a good career move if you get relegation clauses put in there so if you do impress but the team is crap then you may well get your big move after just one season. Of course you could pull a Weghorst instead!
