Your likes of palace, Southampton, Burnley and Brighton get there players from the championship we should be looking at a better players that can make out first 11 better. Get rid of the deadwood maybe 7/8 of them and get 3/4 very good players to improve our 11 otherwise we could fall way behind the top teams What do you even mean by better player? The standard of the league doesn't define a players ability or potential. 2

They play in the championship for a reason! Go out and make a statement I say go get berardi that kinda player is what we need first 1

Vardy- next season will determine if he still has it, injuries and the way we play does not help him. Daka - the verdict is not in as yet if we have a future star on our hands, he is struggling to assimilate his style with the existing players. Piroe is the type of player that we need, as a striker who can link the play and very much like Nacho, but with consistency. If we sold Nacho and brought in CDK along with this player and Daka and Vardy for variety, we would have a great intelligent forward line up. Nacho is gone I agree BR is not a fan. Go get CDK + Berardi or if Leeds go down to get raphina! Daka + CDK screams lethal to me

An Sionnach Posted 7 May 2022 Posted 7 May 2022 You would think that every top club in Europe would be looking at Mitrovic ,a proven highly consistent striker at every level bar the PL. I don't know why that is the case but it probably is the standard of assist he gets at Championship level is nothing like as good as those required in the PL. Having said that ,if he was playing for Liverpool he would be a 20 goal a season man. Piroe might do fine if he gets those assists from us.

Get rid of the deadwood maybe 7/8 of them and get 3/4 very good players to improve our 11 otherwise we could fall way behind the top teams Disagree entirely. Even teams like Liverpool and Man City should be buying top class Championship players, a huge reason United are in a mess is because they've stopped buying the best young English players. But as we'll have less games next season, I agree that improving the starting 11 is key, as these will be the 11 players starting most weeks. Also remember we've got 5 subs now, so the bench 7 will become even more important as well, having players like Lookman being subbed on could be the difference between a draw and a win. 2
lcfc sheff Posted 7 May 2022 Posted 7 May 2022 We need to be actually creating chances for the strikers, that’s our problem. Not the strikers themselves but the way we’ve been playing is far from emphatic, what has happened to us now In comparison to when Brendan first came in? What is the reason for this change now we have a basically fully fit squad to choose from??? 1

If we did sign piroe then I’d back him and hope he proved me wrong.

Olise, Maddison, Justin, Cash, Antonio, Callum Wilson, Toney, Che Adams, Dunk, Webster, Konsa, Eze, Neves was playing in the Championship just to name a few off the top of my head. Maguire and Robertson were relegated for Hull when they left, so would have been Championship players. No one is saying lets focus all our business on Championship players, however the squad and possibly starting 11 could be improved with 1 or 2 additions from that level. 4

Forgetting a few, but here’s a list of current championship talents who could make the step up to the PL like Maddison, KDH and so many others: Defenders: Isiah Jones - RB/RWB Spence - RB/RWB Worrall - CB Colwill - CB Cabango - CB James Hill - CB Maatsen - LB Midfielders: Massengo - DM/CM Sander Berge - DM/CM Alex Scott - CM/CAM Carvalho - CAM Attackers: Brennan Johnson - RW Ebiowei - RW Lewis-Potter - LW Piroe - ST Brereton - ST Ndiaye - ST Semenyo - ST

The Championship will track well on success rate against many of the top leagues, especially the best players from a season such as Maddison, Bowen, Olise, Toney, Kalvin Phillips, Mbuembo, Callum Wilson, Ings, Vardy, Mahrez etc 3

All I’m saying is this piroe isn’t better then what we’ve got so don’t get it. He won’t be joining us anyways.

You can't just look at goals to judge a player's success. Especially as both of those are wide forwards, French u/21 internationals and in their first season in the top flight. If you look even a little closer than that, you'd see: - Mbuemo - 4 goals + 7 assists in a midtable side. 10+ goal contributions with a handful of games to go isn't to be sniffed at. - Olise - 2 goals + 5 assists in a midtable side with a handful of star appearances in a cup semi-final run. If we signed either of them (which we won't), I'd be very content. Similarly, Piroe is worth a go. He's had an outstanding first season in England, and is a 22 year old with good pedigree in terms of being in the PSV academy and being a Dutch youth international. He also won't break the bank so very much worth a go. 1
Ian Nacho Posted 7 May 2022 Posted 7 May 2022 I’m more comfortable spending £15m-£20m on someone from the Championship compared to Ligue 1. 1

VLC86 Posted 7 May 2022 Posted 7 May 2022 Brendan still has staff at Swansea so if we are genuinely interested I can see it happening. I can see us maybe wanting to trim a bit off the wage bill so maybe selling someone like Iheanacho and replacing him with Piroe isn’t beyond the realms of possibility. 2

Wouldn't mind us having a look at Ben Cabango an'all.
