I say things as I see them. We did play some genuinely good football in the second-half last night. You do have to consider just how bad the opposition are though. We were far too open in the first half and bringing Mendy on actually turned out to be a smart decision.

It would have been smarter to start with Mendy. Rodgers first half thinking " Norwich are shit, so we don't need a CDM ". £10 million a year- ha,ha,ha.

I take your point and the manager certainly isn't in my good books at the minute, but my point is a lot of people were bemused by the substitution and it turned out to be the right thing to do.

If you play four at the back, you need a CDM , accepted since time immemorial.

Yeah fair enough for them ones. There’s also no chance there was 31,830 there for Brentford at home.

Right so you've presented evidence and then disagreed with it....Good one.

We've single handedly kept Everton up by gifting them a point in injury time at Goodison and then 3 points at home + decided to win our only league away game of 2022 and in the last 7 months away at Burnley and then followed that up with a spawny home win vs Leeds.

It's harrowing.

Unless you’re in europe where teams are more pragmatic in a two legged tie …. Well we managed to beat psv without one !

Your talking absolute no nonsense  ,why on earth do you want BR out ,it doesn't matter who we get in as manager of our club ,fans like you will always be negative towards anyone who comes in .

Just would like to point out that my comment was made as joke to those fans who complain like this every game, sorry if this was confusing!

“Fans” like him are under the impression that the worlds top coaches are just waiting for Leicester to call, so they can leave their current teams.

Not happening.

In fact, I’m not sure anyone worth a damn would willingly come to a club that fires a manager after the season of injuries we’ve had.

Of course, I suspect he’s not a fan - so he may be hoping we bring in Big Sam

I am a fan, supported the club my whole life, went to Rome to watch the team and my comment was made as a joke to the Rodgers out people because they are complaining...

Trev, I understood you mate.

The biggest, percieved, abuse came from someone who liked your original post.............there is probably a logical explanation but it can be a bit fickle here sometimes.

Personally I could not go to Rome and was hoping Vlads thread, photo and video diary, would provide more entertainment than it has.

Anything you could post?

That’s the only good photo I got, the fans at the back setting off 3 flares, don’t know how they snuck them in with the 4 security checks there was

You would hope the automated turnstiles could count the number of tickets scanned in.

Yeah, they can.

And I think it's a legal requirement for every club to know exactly how many actually attend the games.   I believe that the relevant authorities (council/police/health n safety) record actually numbers vs tickets sold/publically quoted number ... so they can check for future planning, safety etc.

It's common knowledge that pretty much every club now just quotes the number of tickets sold.    Which can be a lot more than actually attended the match.    There was a table of quoted vs actual attendances published a few years ago.   And there were quite large discrepancies.

The biggest mismatch was for a night game where they quoted 57000 or 60000 ... so it was probably Arsenal or West Ham ... and the figure passed back to the local authority was actually about 35,000.   But most clubs showed some sizeable discrepancies, especially for "meaningless" matches near the end of the season, or midweek matches in winter.

And to go one step further ... there was a report in a paper this week, that some clubs in the Second Division (aka "Championship" to the younger ones) ... that not only are they quoting tickets sold, but they are also adding in tickets given to the away club, but not even sold!

Presumably it's done to make them look better, but I bet there's some semi-fraudulent reasoning behind it as well.   Maybe allows the club to claim higher turnover and lessen the effects of FFP rules.  Who knows?

You must be young? In the 70s and 80s, when 4-4-2 was king, there was no dedicated CDM. Central mids took it in turns to go forward or sit back.

Even the old turnstiles counted but I think they used to under report attendences for tax purposes.

Suppose ticket sold matters more than bums on seats for all financial stuff other than selling burgers.

One thing I ain't is young ,sadly. Perhaps players were more versatile then but Stiles and Mullery spring to mind as hard tackling defensive mids

How many times has Brendan received a dogs abuse on here for bringing on subs to defend a lead.  Bloke can't do right for doing wrong.

....we were 3 goals ahead, hoping for Vardy to get his hattrick and Norwich were going through the motions!!!

Bringing on fresh legs with no pressure to defend a lead, was a no brainer, why would you not utilise your bench.

That they were, but they were always the exception I think. When I played football in the 80s, and maybe into the mid 90s until back three formations became all the rage, there was no dedicated central midfield positions. They were like pistons - one stayed, one went. It was the central defenders who had defined roles - one header, one sweeper. But midfield was fairly fluid.

....not much has changed then, just the way we choose to describe the positions and terms that we now use!!!

Your pistons are now the double pivot, Youri and Wilf and the header and sweeper is very much the same where Fofana attacks the ball and anticipates with Evans sitting to cover Fofana if he gets beaten.
