I'm giving them a point against Spurs and nothing else, but four defeats wouldn't surprise me at all.

In any case, Leicester are (finally) looking a decent side now and if they can get near today's performance level when they play West Ham they'll get another win and Reading really will be irrelevant.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't get another point but like with the men's team we can't bank on relegation rivals not getting another point. 4 points feels the maximum realistic return, villa are a good team but they've got home advantage, spurs also in the fight still.

The state of those seats, Cov would feel at home there. Good win though.

eh, club only opens the west stand for women's games, like early rounds of the league cup. Not seen the attendance announced but I'd guess at around 4.5k which is decent for women's football given its still recovering from when the FA banned it

I think he means the fact that they're faded to a more sky blue colour. Hopefully sorted during pre season.

ah fair enough, I see so many comments like on the BBC match report slagging off the WSL attendances that I assume comments on seats are about that, and it's quite annoying because of how ignorant of history it is. like for anyone interested I'd really recommend "A woman's Game: the rise, fall and rise again of women's football" by Suzy Wrack, does a great job of telling the history of the game. like there was a point in the early 1900s where it looked like women's football would mirror the men's game in popularity, until the FA banned it from taking place in members stadiums (artificially suppressing attendances) because of batshit notions of football not being suitable for women's biology

Highlights suggest they tired in the 2nd half.

I think it was more the job was done with the goal nearly straight from kick off. goal difference is better than Brighton's anyway so not necessary to stretch the game and go for more, rather just keep it professional and see out the result

...not really, just in the last 6 minutes, bad habits were coming back into our game and Liverpool were allowed space where we had previously denied them!!!

We were noticeably more physical and positive in our play, tackles were going in and the players got up and ran it off, a big difference in our mentality.

Mace was pretty much a wise head on the pitch who can play a bit and would be good if we could secure her on a contract. Plumtree again looks great going forward but looks naive when defending and needs to show the same composure that she shows whilst striding forward to support the attackers.

Bringing Goidwin on was a bit if a late call, Cain had gone through a concussion protocol and should have come off at that moment.  Goodwin is a better finisher than Cain. Howard as usual mopped up at the back, Whelan was the only player, wide left, you could say was under par, continued to lose possession and just completely out of sort.

Disappointed to hear the latest move from the club showing that despite the Lionesses success in the summer the girls game still isn’t being taken seriously by the club. Moving to a tier 1 category they have ditched 5 academy teams, leaving just three teams, u16, u21 and the Women’s senior team up at Belviour Drive. They’ll be running emerging talent centres to coach girls alongside their grassroots teams.

The academy teams were playing a high standard in the boys MJPL leagues, competing well with the physicality, speed of movement and thought and would regularly win these matches often taking teams apart. Now all these girls are expected to go back to grass roots girls football which, with all due respect, isn’t even close to what they are competing with now and are expected to progress to be elite girls by the time they are 16. Also, for comparison, these girls were beating the likes of arsenal, shef United, man u girls academies.

It’s a regressive step that you would never see in boys football that will see talent move to other clubs that are still funding their own academies despite the cat 1 England pathway status they’ve attained, other girls will get lost in the system or lose interest playing at a much weaker standard.

It would be nice if the club could see sense and reverse this decision but when these decisions are made by non football people this is what happens. It’s like building the roof of a house without the walls to support it. Leicester not funding their own academy to feed into the cat 1 is a short sighted move that will see the clubs growing and strong standing reputation in girls elite football collapse, a disappointing and backwards move by the club that will have long lasting negative effects all round.

I hadn't heard that; it's really disappointing.

It is, really disappointing, anyone with an ounce of common sense can see what a bad move it is, eventually they’ll realise themselves when all the best talent has gone elsewhere then reverse the decision and start the academy up again with a great big fanfare of “look what we’re doing, how good are we”.

Absolutely bonkers decision.

Next two games away to Arsenal and Chelsea...yikes.

Yeah, the games against the top four don't really matter though, it's what they do against the rest (especially those at the bottom) that counts.
