Doesn’t Wanya have another brother too with the name Loureiro as well?

Think it’s Gio Loureiro

Correct. He left Leicester last summer though, might now be at West Ham.

Several U23s in the squads for tomorrow's games. Hope that we see many of them play.

I can't remember feeling so optimistic about our upcoming young players and I have a long memory :-)

Bit of an odd pre season for the likes of Braybrooke and Alves.

I know they had summer international involvement. But if they do end up going out on loan, or indeed featuring for us, they’ve had next to no pre season action in the first team or with the dev squad.

There’s a lot to be said for training with the First team like they have, they’ve been part of intense training and behind closed doors games, they wouldn’t be undercooked and the standard of players they’ve been working with will massively bring them on.

They would also probably prefer training under the eye of the gaffer than playing under the eye of Petty.

Rodgers is good at man management; he will be letting them know what's up with the new season (even if it depends on outgoings/incomings).

What’s going on with Alves, Nelson, Braybrooke, Marcal and Wright? Braybrooke got about 10 preseason minutes and Wright got at least some. Braybrooke may well have a loan and Wright could be used. But the rest—u23s again? It feels like we could have done more.

It is annoying, I like the double game or 120 mins games that allow more of the squad more minutes. I know the manager and coaching staff will get to see the academy players in behind closed doors games with the 1st team if needs be but it's not the same as being in front of crowds, even if it's still only pre-season friendlies.

He gave Nelson and Maswanhise more minutes last summer but suppose we have such a big squad and not had a major tournament this summer that meant many players weren't back yet when the friendlies started.

It's quite a compressed preseason with the world cup in the winter causing the season to start early. As much as I'd love the chance to see these lads play, I'd rather our first team players be as ready as possible for the season.

The training centre and academy is such a bit part of the club’s long term success. There needs to be a balance, of course, but it doesn’t seem quite right currently.
