Arsenal & Leicester interested in Chelsea wonderkid Colwill

The Blues have a decision to make on their academy product, who is being targeted by fellow Premier League clubs

The teenager has been a first-team regular in Huddersfield Town's promotion push ahead of their Championship Play-Off final against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

There will be scouts from a host of Premier League teams in attendance at Wembley, with Crystal Palace, Southampton and Brighton among the others who want the talented centre back.

What's Chelsea's position on his future?

The Blues are ready to bring Colwill back in pre-season to train under Thomas Tuchel, where he will have a chance to fight for a first-team place next season.

Having had his Yorkshire loan agreed early last summer, there are concerns about the ability to find a good loan destination should Tuchel opt not to use his academy product.

That's compounded by the fact the Chelsea manager did not hand a single league appearance to any teenage players last season.

Chelsea are also reluctant to send Colwill out on loan again because Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are both leaving on free transfers.

However, there's an expectation that the club will try to sign two central defenders to replace them both.

The Blues could force Colwill to stay after he signed a five-year contract last summer, but have been open to letting youngsters go for the right price in recent seasons.

Marc Guehi joined Crystal Palace after a Championship loan spell for £18 million ($23m) last summer and it could be a guide price for potential buyers.

Now we’re talking. Reminds me of a left footed little Wes.

Just not sure Chelsea will be willing to sell given their dearth of CB’s for next season. Also has a number of years left on his contract so not sure what the asking price would be for him…

Can’t see Chelsea doing anything with him until they’ve sorted their own situation at the back. They’re losing Rudiger, Christensen, Azpilicueta and Alonso from that backline, so they’re not going to let Colwill go until they’ve got the cover in.
If there’s any truth in the Soyuncu interest then maybe work him in a deal.

Similar to Saliba. Appreciate swap deals are rare but either of the below scenarios and we’d be laughing

£10m + Saliba for Tielemans

£10m + Colwill for Söyüncü

If we want to reap the benefits of the economic big six ignoring the talent in their academies we need to act fast because like all things the bubble will burst. We won't be the only club noticing the likes of Lamptey, Livramento, Broja.

Going into next season their CBs are Malang Sarr (not good enough for them) and Thiago Silva who'll be turning 38. Given they play with a 3 they probably need to sign 3 CBs. I can't see them letting him go

They have Chalobah as well

Seems like they are targeting 2 at the moment - definitely Kounde and then linked with others as well

According to this article, Chelsea will be selling some players to help fund their summer window.

If we chuck 30m at them it might be difficult to turn down.

He's got to be our number 1 target after we missed out on Schlotterbeck.

Colwill has everything we want in a defender. I don't like having to wait until Chelsea decide whether to use him next season, they'll still buy 2 new defenders anyway but in a back 3 thst still might mean they want him and bin off the likes of Malang Sarr.

Therefore go in and offer them a fee that will surely tempt them £20-25m and get it done or move on. This kid is going to be a beast.

Also- the players were linked with I find incredibly reassuring.

Bremer, Schlotterbeck and colwill are elite.

If Cags is off, he's got to be towards the top of our list. A season learning from Jonny Evans and getting 10-15 starts, and then he's ready to form a long-term partnership with Wes that will see us right for years.

Yes he is, but according to reports / those in the know we were willing to pay big for him.

Excuse my ignorance, but who’s this?
