Can someone inform me on what “scholarships” are for players? Not a concept I’m familiar with here in the poor old US of A.

I think wikipedia says four: 2 in the league, 2 in cups. The only reason he signed the last two extensions was because of COVID. No pressing reason to change a third-string GK in a weird market.

Scholarships are signed when players leave the under-16s (and school) - you get a two-year scholarship to play in the under-18s with the option of a third year extension. So for example last year Will Alves started his two-year scholarship, at the age of 16. I believe the scholarships are a fixed wage across all clubs, at something like £150 a week.

 

Once a player turns 17, they can be offered professional terms, but that is usually only done for players that are highly sought after by other clubs. Generally, clubs make decisions on whether to offer a pro deal at the end of scholarships when they turn 18.

Concerning if he's not signed a pro deal yet, seems relatively up to date given there's details of those with offers. He turned 17 a month ago and as it stands could leave for another club for a pittance. I'm sure it will be sorted but it needs to happen ASAP, @Burbagefox89 is likely right 🙏🙏

Not guilty, barely seen much of him over the years. He came highly rated aged 15 from Chesterfield and scored a few in the Papa John's I think but barely played U23's for us.

Interesting that 5 of the signees in February were 17, although 3 of them have since turned 18.

....he always seems to look good going forward and susceptible in defence!!!

Good luck to him for the rest of his career, this loan to Dundee might have finally given him the push to tighten up on his defensive prowess.

Honestly guys don’t worry about Will as said before not a chance he leaves this summer. He’ll be in the under 23’s this year and on the edge of the first team with a few likely cup appearances in my opinion which hopefully he takes the chance. Rodger’s openly called him out after the Watford fa cup tie where he got a few minutes for his showboating, then you look at his position in the under 23’s and he’s been pushed into more of a cm than cam. There’s no coincidence in this as the club want him to learn the hard graft to make him a more all rounder once he cracks this Rodger’s will be all over him in and around the first team then the sky is the limit for the kid mark my words

Don’t hold me to this either as I don’t want to claim to be in the know with transfers as I’m really not but I was told the other day from a person I know who I believe is. That Ward will move on (Bournemouth and Forest both apparently interested) as he wants to be fit and ready for the World Cup. Iversen to compete with Kasper for the season with Iversen playing all cup games to prove himself to see if he is able to replace Kasper at the end of the season. Brad young to be 3rd choice

Hardly a measure of talent I know but he was warming up with the 'keepers before the Everton away match in April.

 

He was pulling off some absolutely ridiculous saves to the point my son now wants him as first choice!

Great news if true, Iversen will be a great understudy to Kasper and if we can get a fee for Ward and reduce wage bill then all in all will be a good move without weakening the squad in my opinion. 
 

saw a fair bit of Iversen last season and we live in Preston and he was class, would have been genuinely disappointed if we had moved him on this summer as I think he will be a quality keeper and have an excellent career

Not surprised Rodgers wants to coach the individuality out of him and master the art of the momentum killing 5 yard pass backwards
