Rodgers opens up on Leicester City transfer struggles but 'won't go to war' with club

Sure it’s been said, but am I the only one who thinks if everyone stays fit we will be fine,

But they won't? It's been shown over and over again that BR can't keep a squad fit. Same at Celtic and Liverpool when he was there. What's changed?

I’ve no loyalty to Rodgers if he left I’d be ambivalent about it as my concerns would be towards who replaces him.

Like our player recruitment we’re in no man’s land not big enough to attract an elite successful manager and too advanced to take a risk on an unknown because unlike a new player a  new manager can kill a dream far easier than he can achieve one.

Agree... I think we have good players ...rw is the missing part.  It's how we play them...  and how we abandon  them ...hence my obsession with the managers actions or in actions

Vardy, Justin, N’didi, Fofana, Maddison Evans and Ricardo fit, we will galvanise and be fine…

Yeah they can pass it along the back four just as Rodgers likes it... 75% posession, no shots on goal... concede from a corner.

No... he is seeding a narative for his next job

Won’t get a decent job if it’s a poor season here. Hit his ceiling unless we does something decent with us.

Also didn’t think he’s anywhere near ‘ambitious’ as he once was due to his attitude changing on his personal life

This is my concern.

A lot of 'ifs' and the injury issue is a big one.

Hopefully it was down to Covid compressing the seasons, the Euros and the fixture tempo being so high with European competitions in the mix.

People finally willing to accept that as a club we've probably already peaked and the next few seasons are most probably going to be a struggle?

Without significant additional investment it will be the case. We’ve been able to spend more previously because of success and European football. Now we have a financial year without a major player departure, an European campaign and the heavy spend on infrastructure. We’ve been using the Tv money and transfer money for years as bait for loans but the extent of us doing that much more is running out

He's had a good 24 months with the majority of these players. You'd like to think he's got his system pretty nailed down. You make it sound like he's only just joined the club and is having to get used to working with a whole new bunch of players :D

If only he had, we might be decent this coming season

I am fed up with him. He is sly.  I realise there are other POVs

Did well to be 5th highest scorers in the league without registering a shot on goal.

I appreciate there was an annoying theme in some games. But let’s not ignore the bigger picture.

Well my advice would be not to get worked up because he won’t be leaving unless he quits. Club haven’t got £10 million handy for his compo

I respect your pov... but this is heading south... I can see it with my eyes and feel it in my water

@Webbo I actually think it gets worse during the season. It's more regular through the season even if we do win or have good runs of form.

If we win, it's the players.

If we lose, it's Rodgers.

Rarely, if ever, any in between.

I think you are right (sadly for me)... I wish his agent could get a wriggle on.

Out of interest, when Rodgers does inevitably leave one way or the other, is it your belief or expectation that the board will look to appoint a manager with a totally different playing style given the success Rodgers has had with his?

It always was going to. I’m afraid if anyone thought the only way was up after finishing 5th twice and winning the FA Cup for the first time in our history,  was deluding themselves.

We punched above our level, and without the money of a big 6 club it was never going to be permanent. It’s still a long term project, and the next rung on the ladder is to try and grow to an Everton, Villa, Leeds size club. Giving the club a better base to challenge a bit more often (if things are done right).

Several managers have tried to tell people, the owner  has rarely gone over the top in his expectations, many fans tried to tell people.

There will be ups and downs for us, get used to it. Bigger clubs can course correct mistakes far easier, and there will be mistakes no matter who is in charge of the team or recruitment.

I’m not enamoured with Rodgers, I’ve made that clear enough. But also expectations seem to have got out of control.

I am just sick of his boring football.... and his buck passing.  I dont expect top 5... but I feel Rodgers is using us.

I admire your patience and philosophical  approach... but he makes me so cross

Would you be happier if we played 'attractive' football but finished bottom half?

Next season... Rodgers will have us in the bottom half.

I would like us to attack more... I honestly think we would get more points.

That didn't answer my question and you know it!

I gathered as much - do you think they will? I'm not trying to start an argument, I just want to see what the Rodgers outers expect to see from a potential replacement as I think they will be disappointed. The owners are not likely going to go from appointing possession-type managers to appointing direct-type managers, especially given the success they have seen with the former.

Yours is hypothetical question.  Yes,   I would take the risk... I see the jorpordy but I would.. .. if we end up in the bottom half then of course we would consider our options.

Yet, Playing Rodgers ball is a risk too... would you call for a new manager when he gets us to 17th or lower?   Or when?

This is a more pressing question... as we are going to find out coz the club wont sack him and he hasnt got an alternative job.

I dont expect the club to sack him soon.  I was hoping he would find a new job.
