There is a reason they are “easier” opponents to face at the end of the season though and that is because all 3 were poor for all/the majority of the season

It is reasonable to think if we had played those games earlier that we still could have picked up maximum points

But we did play them earlier. drew 1-1 with Burnley drew 1-1 with Leeds drew 2-2 with Southampton drew 1-1 with Everton and lost to Everton 2-1 at the end of the season.

We also beat Norwich and beat Watford earlier in the season as well as at the end of the season?

We beat Wolves, Man Utd, Newcastle, Liverpool in the 1st half of the season but lost to them all 2nd half of the season?

When you play a team in the season will have some influence but it won't dictate the entire result

We had a 1-1 draw with Man United and easily should have won the match.

Ah yeah I forgot it was a draw

Realistically we probably should've lost the home game against Liverpool with the chances they missed

What I am saying is though that although when you play a team during the season will influence the result in someway (due to fixture congestion, injury build up etc.) it wont dictate the entire result, whilst @PAPA LAZAROUseems to be insinuating that we got lucky to finish 8th because we played teams at the end of the season that were easy, even though we probably had a good chance of taking the same amount of points even if we had played them a couple months earlier

I think we’ll finish between 10th and 14th. Don’t understand this logic of if everyone stays fit we’ll challenge top 6. No side has everyone fully fit.

What do you think is the major loss between the team that threw away 4th and this team out of interest?

I have every Faith in Rodgers, because our Owners do....

I Trust their descision, more than misconstrued, made up opinions from the darkside of  FT...

I was more concerned before the friendly against Hull.

I get it's 'Only pre-season' and 'It was against a poor side'....But what impressed me was the intensity of our passing. In a pre-season game, we had more intensity, purpose and crispness in our passing that in any match last season.

The integration of Praet and Soumare into the squad will also be key. Tielemans has been generally poor since the FA Cup final, and shouldn't be starting games on form. If Rodgers returns to type day one, and starts Tielemans, who has a poor game and also knocks the confidence and belief of Soumare+Praet who deserve a chance ahead of him, then I will start to worry more.

Can we get the likes of Choudhury/Mendy/Perez/Albrighton/Vestergaard/Bertrand out and give us wiggle room for 2-3 key signings? Who knows.

But if we could, and add 2-3 such as Colwill, Sangare, Madueke, I think the majority will be positive going into the new campaign.

People get worried when they see other teams signing new players and we aren’t. Forest have at least ten signings with Lingard the latest. However most of them are championship quality at best and are all arriving at the same time, which does most definitely not guarantee success. Look at Fulham a couple of seasons ago.

we have a number of quality players and are not in Europe. No need to panic.

Conceding late goals, relying on a 35 year old for goals who is picking up more injuries now, same with Evans, a manager who seems now to sit back on a 1 nil lead, the majority of the side is also older and we haven’t signed anyone  that has improved our starting lineup attacking wise. Apart from that we’re doing great…….

Evans and Vardy are fair concerns, I think its vital that we see Parsons step up a level this season as Vards legs seem shot to bits when he's asked to play regular.

Evans similar again, not sure if he's still struggling with his foot inury or not. Youd like to think either Soy stays and hits his best form again or that we sell him and can bring in Colwill.

The manager is a concern for me, im hoping the break has allowed him to shake off his over cautious ways. His cautious nature definitely has a negative effect on us, especially when performing well with a narrow lead. His changes tend to bring confusion and fear to a group that are looking comfortable

The majority of the side is older but also it was a young side, so if anything the extra experience should be a benefit rather than a hindrance

Theres plenty of room for optimism for me, my concern as always is if the manager will embrace the opportunity and take some risks with playing personnell or whether he will play it safe and drain any enjoyment out of watching us.

Ok. I’m not confident for next season. So where do you think we’ll finish next season?

Points wise assuming we dont lose Fofana or Maddison for long periods id expect us to be looking for 60+ points

Less than that would represent an underachievement for me. 60+ should have us challenging top 6/7

Id expect us to give it our all in both cups as well. If we get Man City early doors though we will probably be out so there's no point setting minimum expectations for them :D

I hope you’re right and I’m wrong. I can see us finishing on late 40s early 50s. I don’t see Rodgers lasting the season.

Think that came from us defending so poorly, he got more cautious as the season went on

Ok. So you see a new manager coming in and getting us top 6? I just can’t see that happening. Again I hope I’m wrong and you’re right. 😂

I think the squad is good enough to get us to top 6 and keep Rodgers in employ. I would fancy us to be languishing in the championship within 2 seasons if Rodgers is anywhere near the club next summer though haha.

The squad isn’t. The starting line up is. Unfortunately you’ll never have everyone fit. That is the same for all the clubs in the league. Difference is especially the top 6 have the squad to cope. We don’t.

We have one of the best young CBs in the world next to a classy and decorated veteran;

the deepest set of fullbacks in the league with Ricky and JJ having another summer to get back to full fitness;

one of the best ball winners in the middle of the pitch;

England’s best attacking midfielder;

a winger who still scores even when he’s not playing well;

and three outstanding strikers.

We’ll be just fine as long as we avoid injures this season.

To have a squad good enough for top 6 is impossible - man City and Chelsea apart.  Even Liverpool.

Liverpool have 14 or 15 top class players. The rest are fairly ordinary. Origi. Oxlade. Curtis Jones. That Japanese clown (tho is he at southanow now?)

Our best 13 are 4th/5th/6th level. But apart from.Man City ams Chelsea, nobody could cope with up to 12 injuries as we had last season.

No, not the entire result, but it certainly helped us gain a few places at the end of the season playing the religation sides as opposed to playing the top six.
