For me, the worst result of our recent bad run was the 0-0 against lowly Stockport. But strangely, I fancy us to win tomorrow.

Thing is whenever Rodgers needs a result he always manages to shithouse one.

I mean I love a shithouse win, there is nothing better.

But when Rodgers is on the ropes, under pressure, under scrutiny and needs something he'll manage to come out playing an effecting, exciting game, low and behold we get a decent result, then it goes back to months of ponderous, boring, sideways football.

This time does feel different though, Rodgers is rattled and reeling, not stopping that bus for anyone in his way.

I think the result Rodgers wants is not a win, he'll want whatever will get him the sack the fastest.

I think the claims  we are going to win tomorrow is optimistic and baseless but, he’s not wrong about things possibly being different if we beat brentford.

Football is a game of margins and form, who knows what happens next if we’d pulled that win off. Maybe we don’t get in our own heads against southampton ? The thing is though, it wasn’t a piece of bad luck against brentford, it is a bit of  a habit for us to roll over like that, so there’s nothing for us to take from it.

I think the bigger thing that’s rocked us has been fofana though.  We know the squad is good enough to put results together but that’s in spite of a manager who is trying to tank us right now.

i think before you would be right but he’s lost the players now. I think you could tell last season the players were doing everything to try and save him… this year… he’s down to 2/3 ally’s and they aren’t our best players

Just some bad luck and tough fixtures recently, we are due a nice win.

We almost beat Brentford first game of the season but we tanked second half. Imagine how different our season would be if we won that first game?

Are you an ostrich?

So you say Rodgers WANTS to be sacked. If so, how would being sacked enhance his CV? Would a prospective employer in any area of commerce or business look favourably on someone who had been sacked from their previous job? Getting sacked is such a negative. Surely he'd want to impress any potential future employers?

I guess it's just in football and politics where failing is rewarded.

Rodgers needn't worry about how a sacking would look on his cv, he'll make it clear he wasnt supported by the club blah blah and another club will snap him up. A sacking, £20m secured and a job elsewhere would be an ideal move for him.

This is just a conspiracy theory based on the fact he hasnt made one decision in a game that has benefitted us so far this season, talks down the club, isolates players etc etc.

I'd like for him to get us a win and we become competitive again.

The most impressive thing he could do would be to turn our situation around, but that increasingly appears beyond him. He obviously wants out, but resignation costs him his payout and also serves as a tacit admittance that he is failing and can't correct the slide. Thanks to the hard work he's been putting in with the media over the last few months, his sacking will widely be viewed as a harsh decision made by an ungrateful, stingy board and he will emerge with his reputation intact.

Whatever the result tomorrow, I hope this thread does not get closed. The title sums up the optimism of a football fan, no matter how badly their team is performing, they always hope the next match will be a turning point.

I think the real decider would be if we lost at home to Villa.

Which we will considering they pulled it out of the bag and drew against a very strong Man City today

Win or lose tomorrow  does not Matter.

Brendan Will be fired in less than 7 days.

His words to the media show in my opinión, that the decission of firing has  been already taken by the management.

Rogers will still be in a job is the only definite outcome tomorrow.

Yeah, he is here till the World Cup break in November at least

Honestly it’s like some people want to self harm because they’re so hacked off. We could win tomorrow, probably won’t, but we could. We will win eventually and easily could’ve won against Brentford and Southampton but a lack of belief got in the way.

It wasn’t a lack of belief though was it.

The squad would have more confidence. Teams would fear us with a solid 2-0 start to the season. Instead we exposed our weaknesses and teams rolled us over.

Am I right or wrong?

Wrong.

Mildly optimistic, at least Maupay has left, swear he always scores against us.

There's always Welbeck.
