I think it was the Leeds game, around the 80th minute there were swarms of stewards in front of all the stands. I presumed they had been expecting trouble if we'd lost.

Off topic but I’ve just seen a female steward from the front of SK1 on central news. Feature about warm spaces. She scares me so you will know who I mean

The Guide’s been out in various editions for a long while - DCMS issue. I suspect with the rise in incidents at football generally it may be being observed more in numbers terms.

Must say yesterday was far more enjoyable not having a frisk by some power hungry meathead outside the gate.

Once inside SK1 stewarding was more relaxed than it was pre break as the body cam crew were not bang in your face all game.

So in West stand recently they have been using stewards to create queues to get in, but with 3 gates either side they were only getting people to use the first two gates.

 

My stepdad has had 2 heart attacks and doesn't do standing for too long so we headed up the middle to use the disabled entrance.

 

On doing so one steward began shouting OI OI! YOU! and whistling at us like a dog so we ignored him, the. He began to grab me, shove me about, swear, tried to take my ticket off and and threaten to beat me up and rip my ticket up. After about 15 mins or so then 3 of them said they are ejecting me and tried to man handle me out of the ground

(Bare in mind, they have no right to even touch you, they don't have the authority to eject someone from the ground, and all this started because my less able stepdad we to use the disabled gate) 

 

Then as the arguing started and the head of lcfc security came over to see the issue and escorted myself the my stepdad in apologizing and saying he was every but in the wrong and will not be working for the club again ect ect. 

 

And fair play to the guy because he instantly too hold of the situation and began running the gate himself making it run smoother like it should be doing. 

 

 

In essence, the staff employed by LCFC I would say 9/10 times do their job very well, and are very helpful and respectful of fans. But I have.never had a good interaction with the contract people they get in (showsec G4S and the like) they are just male Karen's with a inferiority complex who ride off of having a high vis on

Getting frisked on entry to L1 like I’m some kind of terrorist is becoming very tiresome. It wasn’t introduced in response to any kind of incident as far as I’m aware, just something that was snuck in as we returned from covid.

When you're starting to struggle justifying the cost of football, crap like this, and what happened to me the other month is really making me question the effort it takes just to watch football.

 

Recently I can't say I have had better treatment at away grounds than I have at home matches

Double layer of security staff checking tickets, bags and people at SK3 yesterday, once outside and once inside the barriers.

I am normally polite to people who are doing a job but yesterday I told 1 bloke to **** off and watch his hands when he pulled my shoulder from behind and tried to stop me to be frisked. I’ve been going to the games for donkeys years and don’t see why all of a sudden I need to be treated like a potential criminal.

Perhaps the increase in staff is to assist in the provision of pillows for bored supporters or prevent the mass exodus of the same before the end of the game?

Regarding safety around the ground. Always thought the best thing to do would be to close the road off far earlier than they do, than any nonsense searching/frisking upon entry into the stadium.

I was asked to be searched upon entry to the West Stand this season, for the first time ever! Asked them to justify why they felt I needed to be searched and they couldn’t so I walked straight through.

I always appreciate being stopped ten to fifteen yards from the turnstile to have someone look at my ticket, think about it for a moment, and then point at the turnstiles and tell me to go through them.

 

After 20+ years at the football you tend to forget how to enter so a bit of basic instructions are well worth the huge delays it causes.

It's great. We have a bored, apathetic fan base and stewards/ security staff seem to anticipate thousands of tooled up, pissed up hooligans are entering the ground.

It’s getting ridiculous and I can’t see what’s behind all this security, and some of this latest lot are proper intimidating people, where is the trouble that justifies all these stewards, or is there some tax scam going off or is Jim taking some back handers from the security firm, because there seems to be more every match, and to be perfectly honest, I don’t want to go somewhere where there’s someone eying up what meat pie I’m eating.

Eventually the hardcore regulars will **** off and then there'll actually be a need for the phalanx of stewards to piss around with NFT tickets for the thousands of tourists that the board seem to think want to come to watch our crap brand of football.

I take it as a personal slur at my age they don’t frisk me anymore. Makes me want to show I could still do some damage even with my back, knee and hip in ruins.

Just light a cigarette up 30 meters from the ground in a queue “put that out, stand in line” wtf. It seems ever since covid, there’s been a license for nightclub bouncers to work in shops and football grounds dishing out orders. Power to the numbskull
