League cup game vs MK Dons practically picks itself based on who's not injured.

They'll probably watch the World Cup.

Couple weeks holiday, then a week at seagrave and then off to the UAE for warm weather training I think

Only the semi-finalists will be in World Cup action after 10th December.

So presumably most, if not all of the 7 LCFC players out in Qatar will be available for MK Dons (unless injured).

I can't see Wales, Senegal or Ghana making the semis. Frankly, I can't see England making the semis. Belgium, possibly....

I’m sure the players that go will have at least a week off - unless they get to the final.

I imagine you're right. But even then, they could have a week off and be available for a match in the week beginning 19th Dec.

The LCFC nightmare scenario: Belgium, Wales, Senegal and Ghana in the semis,  Madders breaks his leg in an England quarter-final defeat.

I wonder.....

The cynic in me says he'll play the last 10-15 minutes of one match, perhaps when we're heading out of the tournament in the last 16 or quarters.

The hopeless optimist/fantasist in me imagines him coming on as sub when a group match is going wrong, turning the match round, earning a starting place from then on.....and leading England on a charge for glory.

Fantasy is more fun than real life, I often find. :D

Or..........he starts against an Iran side who park 11 buses in defence and is therefore blamed for the 0-0 or 0-1 result.  Never to be seen on the pitch again with Southgate being quoted as saying "told you so".

if England fail to score against Iran after 60 minutes I can see him coming on in the first game

Maddison could get a game in the group stages. Every other team in our group would take a 0-0 draw against us and fancy their chances in the other 2 games. I can see him coming on if someone is completely parking the bus for the last 15-20 mins to try and be our "safe cracker" type player and grab a goal or create one. I hope he gets to play anyway he deserves a chance to show what he can do. Once he gets on the pitch then it's up to him to make himself undroppable. He seems to have matured massively since the last time he played for England, so Southgate should be pleasantly surprised by his attitude.

I literally can’t understand what people see in belgium. England are better than belgium… we might be far from perfect not so are they.

We both have a horrid defence but theirs (the ones that will play) can barely walk.

our goal scorer is far better than theirs.

They literally have one superstar which seems to cloud everyone’s judgement

People misjudge our team so much. Especially given the fact that we’ve had 2 good (albeit lucky) tournaments in a row.

If we get the positivity back again we will go far.

There are only 2 teams that are levels above us imo (france and brazil) and with tournament football there’s always a chance they don’t show up.
