I was under the impression they had been too. However, there’s having a look around and there’s cordoning it off for forensics

But you can't just send a full forensic team in for every search without any evidence that a forensic team is needed.  Better to take a look and if something is found, then send the forensic team in.

Yeah I know

Either way, nailing their colours to the river mast looks to have been a mistake

I find it despicable the attack happened, but even more so that teachers just stood and watched and didn't try and jump in to stop.

Yep, unfortunately  this is the society we have now.

Too scared to intervene, would rather film it on their phones.

Expecting teachers to intervene in a violent attack off school grounds is not that realistic imo.  They don't get paid enough to deal with the shit in school, let alone trying to police the outside world.  Also a teacher got killed doing that not so long ago.

Not even to try and stop it though? One of the girls kerb-stomps the black girl! Teachers just stand and watch. It doesn't seem right that they don't even try and break up or help anyone in the fight.

Didn't know about a teacher being killed for that.

This is a phrase I particularly abhor. You are absolutely correct that teaching staff are chronically underpaid, but attempting to avert an assault has nothing to do with your remit or pay scale.

Actually, it is pure speculation that any teaching staff were present. It mentioned bystanders failing to intervene not specifically teachers.

I expect teachers are actively advised not to get involved in violent altercations, regardless of pay.

It's always tricky to know how you would react when confronted with something like that, I like to think I'd step in and try and do something. However if there are already people watching and not getting involved spectator mode can kick in.

All in all a pretty horrendous episode.

They didn’t at any point seal off the bench her phone was on I believe

Also, like the SGI guy says, the police giving their river theory means the public may well have taken their eye off the ball in terms of being diligent when thinking back to what they saw or witnessed.

I have my own ‘deeper’ theory but I’m not going to put that online.

But they did, you can google it and see all the pictures of it closed off in like 20 seconds.

It is more nonsense churned out by idiots of Twitter, whose whole basis for it never being Searched or closed off off was based on it now being open.

They are also people, can’t believe not a single adult decided to step in quickly.

There were adults involved in the attack, not just kids.  They might step in against some teenagers fighting, but it is quite a call these days to step in against other adults, especially in frankly a rough area.  Chances of one or several being armed with a knife are too high imo.

Agree entirely.

It's not about teachers being underpaid etc, it's about human behaviour  and values.

Watching a kid get the sh1t kicked out of her and people are watching??

Surely enough people were there to stop it and feel safe to do so.

Sorry, just read this after posting and your right of this is the case.

Sums up our society then I'm afraid.

Actually found the video now.  Looks like one 15/16 year old attacks the girl, they are fighting and then I guess the younger sisters of the attacker join in, although not to a lot of effect tbh.  Mother watching throughout and joins in at one point.  The only possible justice here is the mother and they 15 year old end up incarcerated and the younger kids in care.  Horrendous family.  Also two men do put a stop to it at the end in a calm and authoritative manner.

Dealing with scummy families like these can lead to a lot of ongoing trouble.

Yes, my Mrs left teaching at a college in Leicester because of all the grief.

Good.

Sounds like a purely scummy family with the next generation  primed to be just as hideous.

Hopefully justice is severe.
