There is a chance... a chance.... that infact real generational change is occurring. The upcoming youth are not the result of war ravaged parents, or the children of Thatcher, the next gen voters have perhaps a little more compassion, a little more concern for their nighbours and people in general, they are more fucussed on us than me.

A chance

Knife crime, social media and public disorder says “no’.

The logistics surrounding underwear have become a nightmare and don't get me started on the cost of three ply when you're having to polish double the amount of open tar pits.

The woman that has gone missing in Lancashire. Really strange.

Took dog for a walk then it was found loose. Her mobile phone was found on a bench while connected to a work conference call.

Detectives said Bulley, known as Nikki, was seen at 9.20am while on a work conference call, walking the family’s springer spaniel Willow.

Really strange - would suggest that she left the environment with a degree of urgency/haste?

Went in the river after something or somebody? Taken? Had to run due to an imminent threat?

Awful stuff - really hope she is found safe and well.

Deeply concerning. When I first read the story, it didn't include the details regarding the active phone call, which makes the scenario more mysterious. It had read as though, she'd possibly fallen in the river or similar. But the phone, active on the bench, is highly odd.

You would think the dog would have been around the area of the river she fell onto if that was the case. But also if she was taken someone would have heard the scuffle on the call (unless she was on mute). Strange case all round.

On that story about the lady in Lancashire, I've not seen any update from when they said they think it's a missing person enquiry rather than thinking a crime has been committed.

As someone who, many moons ago didn't turn up for a work meeting as I simply couldn't face being in a room with those f***ing people again, I'm wondering and hoping that she's just taking some time out for herself and she's holed up in a Travel Lodge or something hiding from everyone

The news reports still have the police stating "the investigation still remains a missing person inquiry and there is nothing, at the moment, to suggest third-party involvement in her disappearance".

I hope you are right, I'd assume that the family and/or police have checked for bank account activity. You'd either need to have planned to do it in well advance and have the cash and, a fair amount, as it's 6 days now. Or your card booking at the Premier Inn will flag up. And the police would check with hotels. Unless, you just hole up somewhere. And they have just been searching an abandoned house nearby, no sign there though. You'd still need money for food, and to buy that somewhere, where you would be seen.

And the dog just stayed at the bench.

Interest rates set to go up to 4% today and *some older folk on social media grumbling about 'oh you dont know yer boooorn lad, back in my day interest rates were 15% yer generation were lucky son' but conveniently ignoring that house value to wages ratio was a lot better back then and that monthly payments on the average house are a lot higher like for like in real terms on 3% interest now vs 15% on house prices then.

*some not all

It's been said that the police wanted to search a nearby property but the owner of the property wouldn't let them!. The police should definitely be getting a warrant to search the property. Really suspicious.  The property is near to the bench she disappeared  from and you could probably see the bench from there.

If the dog entered the water and appeared to be in trouble, she might have gone in after it and not been able to get out. The dog may then have subsequently managed to get out on its own. After that it could have wandered anywhere.

I've never owned a dog, but wouldn't a dog likely have stayed near that spot concerned for its owner?

I suppose it depends on the dog. Some might do that. Others wouldn't

I've just read that when the dog was found it was 'bone dry', which potentially rules out the possibility of it going into the water. However I still think the most likely explanation is that for some reason Nicola entered the water (either of her own accord or otherwise) and just hasn't been found yet.

The police seem pretty confident she wasn't attacked or abducted...

"No evidence of foul play"

No evidence to say she wasn't attacked!. She could easily have been lured away!. People don't vanish of the face of the earth. Something happened.

They've stated there is 'no evidence of third party involvement', which means they don't think anybody else was involved.

However, there is also no evidence of her falling into the river - no skid marks down the bank, etc - and the river itself is apparently pretty shallow at the location she disappeared, which means she should have been able to get out if she went in. So yes, it's a bit of a mystery.
