Hahahaa I was absolutely nowhere yesterday. Not ran now since Sunday 16th February and I'm beyond livid. Been ill that's scuppered my half marathon and then I've maintained the slump. I'm going on the dot at 6am tomorrow for a blow out, need 15-20km in the bank.

Good luck with that. You'll be 8 cans in before kick off once the team has been announced.

As I said above mate, the change of personnel doesn't matter, its the overall point he's making. We could play Facundo and Mavididi and people on here would be extremely quick to jump on them after another 2-0 loss to West Ham tomorrow.

Called it. The squad isn't good enough. Got nowt to do with Ruud tbh.

I’ve never agreed with anything more than the point about how we operate with signings.

Easy to say with hindsight now but we’ve been dreadful with transfer & scouting for ages now.

Take away that 18/19 Puel window and our transfer record is very very spooky

Just finished the new pod released today. Great to have it back.

Jordan was talking about selling his Season Ticket on the re-sale platform for the Liverpool game and hoping it would be bought by a Liverpool fan, so he could complain to the club as people who sit around him would notice.
My sister and niece sold their Man U tickets that way. They were bought almost instantly, which was surprising. I sit fairly near to them and took an interest in who was sitting there and it was very obvious it was two Man U fans.
Can you imagine what the club would have done if she had privately sold them to away fans?
She reported it to the club and they said they would look into it, but she didn’t hear anything further, which was no surprise.

Just shows the club make the rules up as they go along. They wouldn't sell tickets to our own fans last season because of 'security', but now attendances are dropping like a stone they're happy allowing opposition fans in those seats because it's all about money to them. Which wouldn't be as much of a problem if they knew how to reinvest it.

I think this idea that if we bounce straight back then the cycle will continue is far from true.

That would suggest there's been any kind of good running from King Power to get where they did initially. They managed to get good people in below them in Pearson and co.

We just need to do that again. Far easier said than done but it's doable. The only good thing I can still say about Top is I think he will fund whoever comes in. He just needs to stop the blind loyalty to some staff.

I'm not talking in terms of King Power leaving any more because they won't. So just trying to think of the best case scenario. I certainly don't buy into the idea a few years in the Championship is better.

I can see something in this.

The club is too dependent on the quality of the manager, which can be a blessing or a curse depending on who's in post.

Whether it's Nigel Pearson, Steve Cooper or Claude Puel, the manager can usually count on being backed in the summer transfer window if nothing else. Pearson was good in the transfer market and successful on the pitch, Puel was also good in the transfer market but awful on the pitch and Cooper was diabolical at both.

The problem with KP is that their decision making is erratic and inconsistent. Their misguided loyalty to Rodgers is the root of the problems here, as is their obsession with possession football. They got a bit of confirmation bias as Maresca fitted that style perfectly and won the Championship title - but with perhaps the most talented squad at that level since Reading in 2006. Even then, 11 defeats showed there were fragilities in Top's beloved Man City Lite model.

Yet they completely moved away from that model with Cooper and gave him a squad that was ill-equipped and the keys to the transfer policy. Disastrous decisions.

Then they made the right decision to sack him at the right time. Seemed encouraging. But then they botched his replacement because in no small part of Top's other obsession- having big names on the staff.

I'm sure that other less glamorous names were available and would have made us somewhat tougher to beat. It's unlikely we still would have survived, but we'd have at least gone down fighting.

My hope now is that no big name wants it after RVN inevitably gets the push. Lampard is at Coventry, Gerrard is building a pension plan in the Middle East and that leaves the board having to think for once. Martin seems the obvious choice for them, but so did Graham Potter on several occasions. If he turns us down, and I sincerely hope he does because he'd be a disaster, then the club may be forced to think back to what has worked for us.

Because it has never been this Mini Man City nonsense. If it worked at all under Rodgers, it was because we had an immensely talented squad that always wanted to get forward. We don't have that now and it's unlikely we're attracting players of that calibre again for some time. So we need to adopt a style that plays to our strengths and has players punching above their weight as we did under Pearson and Ranieri.

Just pegging my washing out with latest episode on my headphones. The bit where Ric talks about Skipp and running like you’re holding a bin bag that’s about to rip in the garden, and then saying “hot potato”, got me. I think the neighbours wondered why I was cracking up for no discernible reason. Cracking!

Fascinating interview with Guy Branston in the latest episode. Key talking points:

*Rudkin is one of the best DoFs in the business and we're very lucky to have him

*RVN was brought in for the long term and should be allowed to carry on next season

*Our fans don't understand the huge gap between the Championship and the PL

*If we try to build the team around academy players next season we'll get battered every week

I anticipate a bit of debate on this thread as more people hear it....
