He should be guaranteed starts and would be playing somewhat a variation of the way that Man City play (albeit with much less gusto and ability). Seems like a win win for Man City to accelerate his progression I'd definitely be trying to dip into the loan market from bigger clubs though. Either that or take a punt on a youngster performing seriously well a tier below us that'd be cheapish to buy and be on low wages. The idea of spending 30-40 million on someone who might not even be that good for us is quite a sickening thought for me. Man City aren't great at loaning players out, not once they've been included in the first team reckoning, even if they don't appear that often. Palmer seems part of the 1st team set up for 18 months now and he gets game time, albeit only fleetingly. If we could get him then I'd be all over it as he'd be perfect and good enough IMO. 1

They've seen just how toothless we are since we've returned from the World Cup. I think we have about £45m to spend, which should be plenty to get 3-4 in. Yeah, fully agree - key word is should. Our recruitment seems to lack strategy, and we haven't got a single deal done with over half the month gone. I don't get people saying the money isn't there, it clearly is. Just we seem to be struggling to get deals done compared to other sides. Is it a case of brinkmanship with selling clubs? If so, it's a massive risk to be taking given our position and January notoriously being a seller's market.

They have no worry’s about getting a players wages covered and want the strongest possible squad available… i’m sure in their case training with the best players and manager in the world is better than slumming it with our coaches and vestergarde, even with first team football Edited 18 January 2023 by Lambert09 1

Lambert09 Posted 18 January 2023 Posted 18 January 2023 alan nixon still claiming we need people to leave before bringing someone in… surely that can’t be true if we’ve been bidding for gonzalez?

The Thais have sacked Pearson, Ranieri , Shakespeare and Puel recently. Sentimental they ain't. Yes they can raise the money to sack him but they don't want to. Money is very tight so don't kid yourself that they have much in the transfer kitty. A wage bill of £100 million a year takes a lot of finding.

Just look back to the Palace game and his reaction to the (relatively small) Brendan out chants (which we joined in with). I don't agree with Top on this one by the way, i just don't buy that the money is the issue.
Stevosevic Posted 18 January 2023 Posted 18 January 2023 Percy said we’re trying on this in the article for the LB. 3 1

If we dont find a cheaper alternative (similar to how we went with Daka over Edouard ) then I think we will bow down and pay the money

FerrisBueller Posted 18 January 2023 Posted 18 January 2023 I do hope we have other targets, I’m not hopeful about this for some reason.
LVFox Posted 18 January 2023 Posted 18 January 2023 I'm hopeful this one happens. Their owner saying he's staying and then him being linked to Newcastle just stank of a move to raise the price. Might be one that gets sealed up later in the month.

Not necessarily - they may believe he is the man to keep us up! - I do not think sacking him now will make much difference at all and he knows the issues of which he has created some of them himself and he needs to learn quickly. Personally rather the club if it has £10m, £20m or £40m spend it on players than firing the manager - he has to know if we spend and go down he also has a reputation that is badly diminished!

Palmer or McAtee who's on loan at Sheff U currently but Pep gave him a taste of the high life just before sending him out so i'd imagine he has plans for him but either of them would do us nicely,

I admire your optimism but if Brighton give us a football lesson , the language on here will be extreme.
