If you are on strike, you'll need proof of illness during the period of the strike action in order to get paid by your employer. For the first 7 days you can self cert your sickness. And that's only needed if the sickness is over 3 days. Some companies, and I imagine teachers get this, pay company sick pay from day 1 to day 3 without any self cert and then require one from the 4th day. After 7 days you need a doctors note. So to call in today as a sick day wouldn't need a doctors note and almost certainly wouldn't need a self cert. 1 1

Then if you’re off for ages smash in a note from the doc. This seems like a simple hustle but there must be more to it, when you’re on strike just go on the sick?

And it can't be proven that a person is or isn't sick on the day of the strike. Fraudulent in many cases I suspect.
yorkie1999 Posted 2 February 2023 Posted 2 February 2023 Imo, there ain’t much point in a one day strike, 3 weeks would force the government to sit up and take notice. 1
Popular Post Bellend Sebastian Posted 2 February 2023 Popular Post Posted 2 February 2023 In this week's earth shattering news, my parents are cancelling their subscription to the Daily Mail. Not because of some tectonic shift in their politics, but because there's no reliable way of getting it delivered to their house anymore. They'll always be very conservative in their outlook but hopefully a bit less furious 3 2
filthyfox Posted 3 February 2023 Posted 3 February 2023 Its only my opinion, but.... Council workers will probably be going on strike too. The Unions have asked for a 12.7% pay increase. Its also my opinion that strikes should be followed by a long period of go slow/work to rule. 1
weller54 Posted 3 February 2023 Posted 3 February 2023 On the ITV news tonight... details of all the Spanish Doctors and nurses that left our NHS due purely to Brexshit!!.... The disaster of Brexshit is more and more in the news now!... Notice that ITV report the truth far moreso than the BBC! 1

I've often wondered if staffing our NHS with foreign nationals, ends up depriving other countries of their doctors and nurses. Surely we should be training our own and improving pay and conditions so they stay? 7
Spiritwalker Posted 5 February 2023 Posted 5 February 2023 So the truth is finally out, LizTruss was not ousted by her own colleagues fearful of an economic collapse, she was in fact the victim of a left wing conspiracy. 2

Johnson and Jezbollah have been on the "was everyone else's fault but mine" trail in the last few days too. Not a single scrap of self awareness or contrition between them. A bunch of useless, left interested cvnts. 1

Suspect it's just another lazy stereotype about council workers. Probably knows someone or has been told about a worker who sits in front of the telly pressing enter every few minutes on a fat salary and generous pension, and then likes to tar the hundreds of thousands of other council workers with the same brush. 2

I wouldn't get very far just pressing enter! Wouldn't like to, either. In reality, my Council job involves seeing all sorts of animals on a weekly basis- i bloody love it!

In a similar vein, this week's Newsagents podcast is all Sopel talking to Oh, Jeremy Corbyn[tm]. Apparently, everyone liked all the things he said, everything he planned to do, and none of that panned out because people were out to get him. Clearly, there are flecks of truth in what he says, but the victim mentality and inability to appreciate his own shortcomings are precisely why it all went tits. I can imagine Oh, Jeremy Corbyn[tm] playing chess, remarking on how his initial moves were lauded by everyone watching, only to go on to blame the inevitable loss through his lack of strategic planning on his opponent, various newspapers and Kier Starmer. The section where he whines about David Baddiel is pitiful listening.
