The young Lions, who will compete in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship later this year, will face their French opponents in a friendly clash on Filbert Way.

Featuring some of the country’s top young stars, the game will be an opportunity for supporters to watch the next generation of English talent in action ahead of this summer’s Under-21 tournament in Georgia and Romania.

Leicester City Chief Executive, Susan Whelan, said: “We look forward to hosting such a prestigious fixture in Leicestershire and to giving the people of our city the chance to see some of Europe’s most exciting young talent in action.

“We’re grateful to the Football Association for providing us with this opportunity to showcase our city and look forward to working with them to provide a world-class experience for the players, staff and fans of both teams.”

The fixture will be the fourth time King Power Stadium has hosted an England game, after providing the venue for men’s senior team fixtures against Serbia & Montenegro and Switzerland in June 2003 and September 2018 respectively, as well as an Under-21s victory over Montenegro Under-21s in October 2007.

Remember being very excited when we hosted Serbia in a full international ?2003 - didn’t we host another senior England game recently?

Yeah, Switzerland in 2018.

Can't believe it was that long ago!

We aren't Crewe Alexandra

Having England play at your ground is a big thing.

Even if it is the young lions. Second U21 fixture at our ground...

I wonder if we will be ‘hosting’ the young French team at Seagrave for a day or 2 before the game to aid their preparations.

That’s where I could see some real benefit in having such an impressive facility. Maybe blow some of them away and leave a lasting memory (before we fire in bids in the summer)!

They've been at Chesterfield, Mk Dons and Burnley recently. Don't mean to piss on your fireworks but they'll be about 15,000 there and the hot dogs won't get any better

Remember seeing England v Bulgaria in the fog at Filbert Street think that was the under-23's couldn't see from one end of the pitch to the other.

FS was Mexico wasn't it? They let a load of fireworks off pre the players coming out and it covered the whole ground 😂
