Renato Sanches

Recommended Posts

Same guy who Bayern spent a load on when he was just 18 but he struggled there, was loaned to Swansea in the Prem and was crap, joined Lille and ended up behind Soumare but still played a part in the title winning side, and has done nothing at PSG

Also has injury issues… sounds about right

Leicester City are ‘keeping an eye’ on Paris Saint Germain midfielder Renato Sanches as a replacement for Youri Tielemans.

That’s according to Jeunes Footeux, who say the Foxes are already planning ahead for the departure of the Belgian midfielder.

They explain that Leicester know Tielemans will not be extending his contract at the club, which expires in the summer, and so are looking for a midfielder ‘with a similar profile’ as a replacement.

Sanches is one such player and he has been‘selected’ as a potential signing this summer to fill the hole left by Tielemans’ departure.

The Portugal midfielder has been with PSG since last summer, when he was signed by Luis Campos, but is in ‘great difficulty’ at the club and has only started three times in the league all season due to injury issues.

It is likely Leicester will be able to ‘take advantage’of this opportunity to get a deal over the line, although they would prefer a loan deal to a straight transfer.

At the moment they are yet to make their move and need to secure their place in the Premier League first, where they are currently 17th in the table and only a point outside the relegation zone.

A possible relegation would obviously change their transfer plans and so there has been no definitive move for Sanches, but he is certainly on their list of Tielemans replacements.

Has had loads of injury struggles and was behind Soumare - who by all accounts has struggled here.

Why?

I could be off the mark here but the Tielemans comps seem very strange from what I remember of him at Swansea.

Don't mind him on loan, I'd like him as an option in a 4-3-3 alongside Dewsbury-Hall. Can't really rely on him for Maddison's goals so we would need a good right winger (lol) and probably an option at 10 as well. He flourishes in the right system.

Don't think Rodgers is the right man to get the best out of him though.

He wasn't behind soumare,he was Injured

Good player but horrid injury record

Missed 18 games that season to injuries

Even when he was back from injury and was fit he had lost his place to Soumare and didn't really get it back.

How can people STILL believe that Soumare is a holding midfielder? He's been here since the summer and based on what we've seen, I'm struggling to believe he's a footballer but if he is... when it comes to protecting a back four in the EPL, he's not that guy.

Didn't Rodgers say shortly after he joined that he had briefed the scouting team to look for players who had once shown a lot of promise but then seen their form fall away, in the belief that he could resurrect their career.

This lad would fit the bill.

Or maybe I imagined it?

That list evidently included Ryan Bennett and Ryan Bertrand
