Watching Tielemens fire Belgium into the last 16 last night reminded me how much ruds has cost this club. Literally 100s of millions. But if Tops happy with that, crack on

You know, it's quite ironic that Rudkin seemingly gave Puel a remit to get rid of the title winning squad as soon as possible.

I'm guessing with the logic that they'll be those who stick around thinking they've done their bit.

Yet here he still is himself. Clinging on with dear life. Is there anyone outside the Ginettas and half of coach 1 who thinks he's ever done a good job?

Love Matt Piper but he seems to be the closest I've heard to giving him any kind of support and even the explanation for that is pretty much "he helped me get a job at the club once". Even he says he should go.

I don't know anyone who thinks he should stay. Any club who's ever even wanted him as theirs. There's not any logic to keeping this clown yet he gets a promotion.

Seeing this Monga transfer go through is just another reminder of how this incompetent turd Rudkin has failed us.

We should still be a force in English Football and still be appealing for young players to want to stick around or join us. Rudkin f**k up number 4237.

Wonder if they have an appraisal / performance review system like many standard companies do.

We've fallen to a point where we think £10mil is a good deal as well. Purely self inflicted. There's a world we get 4/5 times that.

So who's going to be the 1st choice striker. Here we are about a month away from the first game and so far no new players.

I think with our recent record we are entitled to wonder if Rudkin and Co are working to get the necessary players in. Everything seems so agonising waiting for deals.

I confidently predict that we are working on next to zero incoming deals, with maybe the exception of a striker (because we have none) and possibly a couple of loans/free transfers. Whilst selling anyone and everyone we get an offer for.

Rudkin letting Youri go for a free has to be up there in the top 5 of his f**k ups!

yep, should have been sold after the cup final, you also have to remember he played like he didn't want to be here for the rest of his contract

What would you suggest? Gun point negotiations?

Its well documented that negotiations took part for over 2 and a half years

After the negotiations failed he should have been transfer listed whilst he had value, like other clubs do.

Doesn’t help when the manager wants him and thinks he will sign even in Jan 23

Brendan Rodgers, the Leicester manager, is confident - publicly at least - that Tielemans can still be persuaded to stay, and is not for sale in January.

It pretty much highlights the major failures at the club, Rodgers given too much power, Rudkin failing to do his job and hold people accountable. The club had a strategy that worked, they then broke it. This is why we are in League 1?and have thrown everything we ever achieved away to head to our lowest point, which could still be lower.

Rudkin is a classic example of a person with certain skillset and experience doing well in a job – then being promoted to a role which is waaaaay out of his reach, capabilities and abilities.

There is, in my view, little doubt that when he was Academy Manager (from 2003 onwards) he did a very good job. He had been with us since the late 1990s and knew the region's youth set-ups and was the "perfect" guy for the job to take the academy to the next level. And he did. Let's not forget that under his stewardship, the academy achieved Category One status and began producing some decent players (Kingy, Schlupp etc.)

As academy manager, he basically ran the place and was responsible for the overall academy operation, including staffing, philosophy and long-term strategy, rather than just coaching one age group. This is well documented.

He was doing a job that he had developed into and become good at – youth football.

The massive mistake we, as a club – and the KP family – made, was to believe that he could translate those skills and the professional performance to elite level. The skills required to run a successful academy are completely different to those required to run an elite Premier League football department.

He was made director of football in December 2014. Another well documented fact is that all the systems, staff, players, recruitment systems and other platforms that delivered our success in 2016 and 2021 were in already in place. He deservers very little credit for the title win and marginal credit for the FA Cup win.

Instead, his success is measured by when, a few years into his tenure, those systems that had delivered the success needed tweaking and new staff needed to be brought. When he was supposed to build on that platform and continue that success – which, after all, was his job – he failed unbelievably badly. And we are now reaping the "results" of him being in charge.

Rudkin happened to be in the right place at the right time when we had our success. The equivalent at arriving and sitting down at ready made table and enjoying a feast. So it looked like he had something to do with it. When he was asked to continue on that success and ensure it becomes standard – well. We see what has happened.

Like in any area of business, a person can excel in one area, without excelling at the other. Rudkin's success in the academy is hard to argue against. But his promotion to oversee all football operations at an elite level is one of the worst recruitment decisions made by any Premier League football club ever.

There are literally millions of examples of similarly bad hires in companies around the world – dudes do very well in one area, then get promoted to broaden their scope and then fail because it's a completely different job. The difference is, they don't stay in post after the realisation that they aren't up to the job. And that is on KP.

Very good post, only thing I think you've not considered is you need to give people time to step up and KP are probably doing that. Rudders has only had eleven and a half years so let's be patient.

Have I missed the comms from Rudkin on strategy and how the club is moving forwards?

I must keep missing them as I also missed the statement on what went so terribly wrong last season.

Link?

Don’t be silly, nothing went wrong.
