Is there a team we could field that would have the quality and fight to be able to get us 4 + wins for survival? 

 

Obviously it's been a season where several players form has dropped off of a cliff and those players are clearly not going to find during the run in. 

 

Also, do we need to change the formation and of course we need a new manager to motive and galvanise            

 

With this in mind my team would be 

 

                         Iversen 

Ricardo    Evans  Souttar    Kristiansen

               Youri    Mendy

Maddison                       Barnes 

               Kelechi  Daka

Manager Benitez

Youri plays better with a 3 in the middle. 
 

Maddison is wasted out on the right.

 

Evans can’t play 10 mins without being out for another month.

At last!  A thread created that hasn't written off the season.  We still have 8 games and it's very close down at the bottom.  It is still possible that we stay up!

 

Yes, we have players that posses the talent to stay up - that's not in doubt, but they do need to quickly change their mindset and find an extra 10% effort individually.

I'd get both Cags and Praet in, mix it up and offer something different

Evans has been a huge miss this season, his calm composed defending as opposed to Faes erratic performances have been sorely missed. 

 

Tielemans hasn't really shown up this season prior to injury, and now Maddison is starting to fade at a time where he needed to step up, with Barnes injured, these 4 in my opinion,  were our route to a mid table finish. 

 

The persistence with Ward giving no confidence to an already fragile Defence, coupled with misfiring strikers is the recipe for this disaster. Nacho was the man to play up top but his confidence was absolutely shot by Rodgers who barely used him before Gillingham in the Cup. 

 

It doesn't matter who you put out there because we have a horrible combination of lack of confidence and a lack of stomach for the fight.

No, of course I don't think we'll get anything at Man City, I haven't completely lost my mind!

 

However, what I would say is that currently our goal difference is more favourable than a few of the teams around us.  We do need to protect it and a damage limitation exercise should be the order of the day against Man City.  If we can come away with a 1 or 2 goal defeat, that's not necessarily a terrible result in the grand scheme of things.

 

If we give up before we kick off it's not out of the realms of possibilty that we could lose 10-0 or something like that.  That would completely wipe out our goal difference advantage, which could prove crucial come the end of the season.

Just mendy? On his own? We’d concede 3 goals per game with that midfield.

This is the one. The important thing the queens on here overlook is the teams in and around us will likely continue to lose, so a couple of wins and we’re likely to be climbing well clear. You can see it down the ground though, entitled fan base been around since 2016/17 that only sing when we’re winning. Too many historic armchair fans bought season tickets, regularly drowned out by a couple thousand away fans.
